Boy... If the accountant gives the thumbs up I'd be willing to do it

Except the fact it's literally written in the language stated by the union that all the money, including taxes are owed back. Some people like to play with fire.

You will see by the end of this year or into next majors offering bonus payback options to get you to leave for them. If I was an FO I would say no until upgrade and make the decision then.

Man- well edv guys got some first world problems to think about.

I dont think the interest gained is going to be worth the hassle. But then again its free money if it works like the accountant says. Welp, good luck. Hope you guys get over here soon.

I don’t know, I just explain the situation to him and he gave me that answer. It doesn’t effect me, but if it did I would think twice about committing to anything like that.

If you take $40,000 and then leave for United you pay back the entire $40,000. Taxes are your responsibility, not the company's.
If you're uncomfortable taking my suggested route, "of not paying it back," then pay it back. The money you will make in the long run at United is so much more than $40,000. It's a no-brainer.

Who knows, Delta may just ram another sham BK down everyone's throats just so they can have the satisfaction of shredding contracts while giving management huge bonuses.

I think he mistyped American. Autocorrect does that sometimes.

You would be deluded to think that Delta is somehow immune to what's happening in the market. They're just another airline ran by the same greedy corporate types as every other airline.

I don't know how we'll fare through all of this. The only thing I'm saying with certainty is management is not our friends. They'll slit our throats with the shredded remains of our contract if it means another bonus, yacht, or golden parachute for themselves. Yes, good things are happening at the moment. The young kids need to know how fast it all goes away when things go south. Make sure you have a plan B, C, D, and E. Get your financial house in order and keep it that way. Job security is a myth.
