Following the completion of your remote learning it’s off to Minneapolis to finish up Gen Subs and Systems. Plan on 3 weeks for that. After Systems you’re off to CAE in Eagan for procedure/sim training. EDV is currently finishing up the process of moving all of their procedure/sim training exclusively to CAE, so plan on switching hotels for that part. I’ve been here a few weeks now, and the director of training told us to plan on a 79 day training footprint from the start of indoc to being released to the line…assuming no retraining is needed in any areas. Also, we are allowed (and even encouraged) to travel home on weekends/holidays if we’re comfortable doing so. I’ve gone home every weekend so far and have still managed to do well on the first 2 exams. All travel to/from training events is positive space, so that’s a really great thing they offer. Classroom training is Mon-Fri from 8-5, but we have been told that we will have a long weekend for thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Training pay is your full monthly guarantee (75 hrs), and we are anticipating the TA being signed by the end of the month according to the presentation by the ALPA reps a couple weeks ago. Everyone in the training dept has been great in my opinion, and the instructors really do a great job of making themselves available by phone/email to help you with anything you need. I’m very happy so far with my decision to come here. It’s a lot of work outside of classroom hours, but it is definitely possible to go home on the weekends and still do well if you put the work in. Hope that helps.
Did they tell you how long is the delay in training (if any) after completing your training to getting to your IOE ?

and was it possible to hold CVG out of training or most were forced to pick NYC?

thanks 👍🏼

My understanding is that the delay between sim completion and starting OE is currently at 7 days…down from 2-3 weeks not too long ago. They have hired a lot more LCPs, and my class has been told that there will likely be no delay in starting OE after sims. As far as base assignments, they’re telling everyone to expect NYC for the time being. There’s a lot of movement with the 200s going away, so NYC is probably going to be where everyone ends up for a while. Who knows though…that could possibly change too. Good news is that the TA was officially ratified a few hrs ago, so the company is back at the top of the pack in terms of pay.

this is insane if it is the case. We are bleeding pilots and current classes have around 8 people. Something is fishy if 7 months for class date. Hmmmm….
For what it's worth:

I have the required flight time, phone screened in mid-August and interviewed in mid-October. During the phone screen I was told to expect around Jan 2, and in the in-person interview I was told to expect May 1.

My entire class got NYC, as did the 2 before us. OE times are definitely down from those numbers according to the director of the training dept last week. The projection is for zero delay by the end of December.

But let’s say I prefer to based out of CVG over NYC and I bid for it during training, will I be able
to hold it? Or only the top 2ish people from the class will be able to hold it?

You will only find out the answer to that question on the day you submit your bid. The next transfer/displacement bid, 500 pilots could all decide they want CVG and you wouldn’t get it. Nobody can tell you yes or no. Just odds of it happening today are “probably”.

I’m not sure where you’re getting your information, but you’re not even close. 2 per class getting CVG?? Ummmmm NO. The last 3 classes have ALL gotten NYC. Also, the class sizes are only running at between 6-8 people now. Unless you live in base there is absolutely zero reason to want CVG. Trips start very early and end late in the day which doesn’t leave many commuting options

I am currently waiting on an April class date. but I already have my mins met. I already was put on a waitlist for an earlier date, I am curious what the odds of getting an earlier date are, how often does it happen.
