Does being in the MEC give your story more credibility? Were you in the same MEC that said the new contract would not exert downward pressure on regional wages?
The PILOTS at 9E/XJ/9L saved 5,000 jobs. From flight attendants to mechanics, to janitors. Those families are all better off because of the pilots of this Corporation. And you can check my record, I did vote NO because I thought too much was conceded, but we saved jobs. |

You're suggesting it is still flawed, correct? Your example is ridiculous. Why would size of aircraft matter in an arbitrated SLI? Career expectations, DOH, and relative seniority all are good barometers for a seniority list merger. The bottom line is there is never going to be a perfect way to do combine lists. Someone will always be upset. |

Like the outcome or not, that MEC did exactly what had to be done to save 2,500 pilot jobs. They did a great job. Chastise me for that one, but it is true.

I did get the honor of meeting one of your fellow pilots that said he voted yes because he didn't take a pay cut because he doesn't use company medical benefits because he's a vet. I bet those mainline guys will have a ball flying with him. |

It was a bluff. Delta isn't stupid to wait and see if 9E votes yes and then decide what happens. Delta knows already who will be in the regional game. You voted No? Just the same way I'm sure you didn't bid to come to the jets. As for the other people in support positions, mist of those are MEM people and the majority are not moving to cold MSP. They will try and find employment elsewhere, like Fedex. If u didn't have them coming in u are blind. We all had them. Mine didn't turn out like I wanted them just like yours probably didn't. But this is for endeavor pilots to discuss. U were never privelidged enough to be an endeavor pilot  |

I think the best way to tell airline management the pay and benefits are too low is to not work at that company. The problem is you are easily replaced by pilots who compromise so they may fly that shiny jet in the sky. The allure of travel and wearing a pilots uniform and making PA's to the pax in their best airline voice is too much. Any pilot who remains at a company that doesn't compensate them the way they think they deserve needs to resign or stay quiet. If you choose to stay that is implied consent and you should do your job 100%, any thing less and your integrity is in question.

An equipment award, which the Bloch award is, depends on the size of which aircraft you fly. ALPA merger policy is written the way it is so it sheds the decision onto a third party. This way ALPA owns none of the political blow-back from the SLI. There is no possible way you could come to an agreement without arbitration. Over the years ALPA has structured itself so anything positive at the airline is ALPA's doing, and anything negative is shed to a third party.
1) Look at our great ALPA merger policy! 2) Go to an arbitrator - whatever happens will be his fault. 3) The arbitrator will assign by category/class. The only thing being arbitrated is which aircraft go in which tiers. All future merging parties will benefit from keeping this in mind. ALPA would be more respectable if they were more honest. |
