Keep that babysitting and instructing comments in check.

A little story, I flew with a senior M88 captain a while back who had to do a go around since the plane in front of us stopped on the runway. This guy f-uped the entire thing. Not one call, never mentioned go around just pulled up and added power. After we landed he mentioned that I was a little slow to react and respond......I thought to myself YGTBSM, if it wasn't for me prompting you at 3000 ft for gear and flaps we would still be doing about 300 kts with everything hanging down! What was my response? Sorry about that I'll hit the books tonight in the room....right after you and I get dinner and a beer.

Perspective. I thought man I hope I never did that to an FO.

Also when you guys get your next job...please where your captain stripes cause once you make captain you are always a captain. Its a right never to be taken away.

Agree... I have been fortunate to fly with FOs from all three airlines and of course the colgan guys are a little weaker than the FOs who have been flying the rj for years, but as a capt, I have never done more "instructing" than when 9E was hiring 250 hour guys and throwing them in the right seat. There is a "gotcha" mentality against Colgan guys, where one silly slip up from them equates to an over blown reaction. We should treat every one as we want to be treated. For most of us ENDV is not our final resting place, and many of us will benefit from this SSP, at which I really hope we are welcomed by Delta way more than we welcomed some Colgan guys at pinnacle. Shamrock, as an original 9E guy, I am sorry to hear a good family man being put in your position, this stage in our career we should be expecting to move up, not move down, MOST of us understand your frustration, and hopefully things will be looking up for all of us very soon.

Why are people getting their feelings hurt and feeling "disrespected" because a downgraded captain still wears four stripes? I wear f/o stripes on my shirts but when I got my blazer, I was a captain, so it has four. I wear it because its cold. I dont plan on having it altered, but it has nothing to do with ego. I dont overstep anyone I fly with. I always make sure they approach the gate agent first to get the paperwork so there is no mosunderstanding. If you're the captain, you're the captain. It says so on the paperwork, you sit in the left seat and you make more than everyone else. Is what someone else wears really that important???

At least this is the kinder gentler 9E...

The previous downgrade classes before the integrated list were threatened with discipline if they did not remove stripes.

I spoke with one of these downgrades. The company offered to reimburse for the tailoring to have the fourth stripe removed.

I think it was more of a "I hope to be back in the left seat soon" or "FU, I used to be a Captain and ain't taking it off".

Some people aren't as secure as other people...and sometimes the smallest thing sets them off...

Seriously how much effort does it take to remove a freakin stripe?? This isn't an issue of pride or ego, its common sense. A captain wears 4 stripes and an FO wears 3. Very simple. Being a captain before has nothing to do with it. Do regional captains getting hired at majors now wear 4 stripes when they start as a FO??
