Endeavor Hiring

Seriously how much effort does it take to remove a freakin stripe?? This isn't an issue of pride or ego, its common sense. A captain wears 4 stripes and an FO wears 3. Very simple. Being a captain before has nothing to do with it. Do regional captains getting hired at majors now wear 4 stripes when they start as a FO??

I didnt think it was a big deal. It wouldnt offend me if I were still in the left seat. And with the latest reversal in our company's fate, it might be worth seeing how things shake out before getting a stripe removed only to have it sewn on again. To those that it does offend, soon it will be cold enough for overcoats so no one will notice.

I appreciate an FO wearing 4 stripes. Takes less heat off me when everyone and there dog wants to ask questions that can be easily answered by a seasoned FO, let alone an FO that used to be a captain.
If the Co-captain wants to deal with the leg by leg issues, I say have at it. Let's me read the paper in the first class section knowing that we are in good hands having the co-captain make the decision of how to handle the gate agents, fuelers, rampies, and every other day to day issue.
Before all you start flaming that it's my job to make those decisions. I say no it's not, it's my job to make sure those decisions are made and made properly. BTW, don't be fooled by my user name. I am legacy XJ.
So for all my co-captains that want to wear 4 stripes...have at it, I appreciate it. Don't bother me with the questions and decisions you make, just brief me when I eventually make my way to the flight deck.

Good post, and your right! My rant is and was misplaced. With my wife recently losing her job and the imminent downgrade things are getting tougher daily. And I do realize I am not the only one with these scenarios. I wish everyone good luck. And yes. I served this country and you are welcome. Also I can say that I find myself quite embarrassed with my childish rants and hope some understand the frustration. We are all fighting a battle in one way or another.
