Mark my word, 9E will be sold off when it benefits Delta and you won't get your whole bonus or anything associated with the SSP. If you are a prospective new hire in this market I'd be looking at which airlines have the resources to bring in new hires, the quick upgrades at the currently growing airlines are short term and when they end new hires will stop coming. In the next two years expect only those regionals with resources to bring in fresh meat to live. The future is going to be full of carnage at the regional level. Pick wisely. |

El Aviador. There's alot of naysayers on here. They had their time where their negativity was accurate. There were the dark times fairly recently, however its pretty clear for internal employees that things are getting better every day and there is a plan with good pay/ career path. |

Put your money where your mouth is since you are so certain what will happen. If Endeavor is not sold off within a year from today then you stop posting on APC. Are you willing to back up your words? |

"Give a pilot a bucket of gold....and he'll complain about the weight"
Negativity, crew room wining, and rumor mongering are what I hate most about this profession. We loose sight of the fact that... WE GET PAID TO FLY MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR JETS AROUND! How cool is THAT? Pilots are the envy of every office rat I know. I have worked behind a desk, most every time I've been furloughed, lost my medical or taken a pay cut (3 furloughs, 1 lost med, 7 pay cuts), everything about office work sucks.... Be thankful you get to do the COOLEST thing in the world... not stuck in a cubicle, but with the best view out the window possible and great people! It ends to soon, even with an age 65 rule! |
I dunno. I'm always leery of people (or corporate recruiters and executives) who say "yeah, we were conniving liars and a-holes in the past,........ but we've changed! We're sooooo much nicer now. Heck, we even want to pay you a LOT more money!! You can trust us now. Really!"
Makes me suspect that they may not actually have that huge stash of candy inside of their windowless van. |

I agree with this. In my former life in corporate training and development, we were actually accountable to some core values...honesty, respect, favorable attitude, teamwork, and professional development/stewardship. I suspect that an alarming portion of my peers in aviation would not score well in a graded 6 month and and annual review in these areas. Oh and by the way, merit raises were based on these reviews. Food for thought... |

No one really has proof just hear say, but why would they send it to PHX if it was intended for 9E? What happened to the 3 200 sims that were in MEM? Where did FS send them off to?

One MEM sim went to CVG, the other 2 mothballed from what I hear (it was cheaper for FSI to do that than have to move and recertify them). Endeavor instructors have received numerous emails about us having first rights to the new PHX sim and that it looks like that it will possibly be ready to go in late May. CAE will own the sim. There is no room for it in MSP.

You are correct about bashing JetU and I did in 2008/9. They were a bunch of scam artists who screwed people, especially military guys with VA benefits. JetU went out of business in May 2009. At the time I didn't know of their shady business practices but they all came to light afterwards. It was ugly with lawsuits and Wachovia/Sallie Mae was involved too. Lastly, I'm not bashing 9E. I just said there were other options that have better advancement opportunities. In no way is this bashing the people at 9E. It's not the peoples' fault, it's just management and what they are planning for the regionals. Some have better advancement opportunities than others. |

Do tell, how was JetU worse than Gulfrstream? Gulfstream had a program where they would keep a right seat for a program student that paid $30k whereas stopping them from hiring a street FO at the regular FO rate. That's the so called PFT. How was JetU like this? It was nothing of the sort. It was just a bunch of RJ ground and sim school - not paid or run by 9E. At the end of the day, you interviewed at 9E like anyone else and either were hired or not. In my particular interview only 6/10 were hired. At the end we got a class date at 9E like any other street guy. No seat was taken like in the Gulfstream deal.
Always found it a little comical when a regional lifer who is saved by the Delta flow try and throw jab for those who actually move on their own. I wouldn't count on the 200s staying, delta has shown they want to move them and it just didn't work out with air whiskey. I'm sure you guys are some of the cheaper bidders now so who knows. Side note Skywest opened up DTW As a maintenance base. Hope the deuce stays by you guys tho, it's been a tumultuous few years for you guys.

shy, the lost decade created a bunch of regional "lifers" as you choose to call them. XJ was a great place to be "stuck" for a lot of us "lifers" Most were living in base and making six figures and great QOL to boot. At the time, most of the eventual flows had no desire to go to some tier 3 airline just to fly a 320 for some of the worst rates in the industry and to commute to do so. I don't fault you for going to Virgin. In your position at the time it could easily be justified. On the other hand, you can't fault us XJ "lifers" at the time for staying put at XJ and holding out for something better than a tier 3 gig which most had not desire to commute to.

Okay so back to Endeavor! I think I read in earlier posts, and I also gather from the paperwork they sent out in the latest emails for the next class...We will be able to positive space home on weekends? Is this even going to be practical? I have a wife and two little ones at home and would love to make it home on the weekends but am unsure how realistic this is with the training going on.
Thanks for any help! Being gone from the family for a month seems a bit much but maybe that's the norm in the 121 world. |
Yes, you receive positive space home on the weekends. I wouldn't recommend heading home though on the final weekend prior to the systems exam. You should've already received an email about whom to contact to set up your travel needs. Class should be done on Fridays by 1700 and the hotel shuttle will take you to the airport from the training center. They may also take a vote in class to start on Fridays an hour early so you can have a few more flight options.
|
These Endeavor threads are just awesome... Pure comedy.

Any idea of current reserve times? How commutable is it really? I'm hoping for MSP.
