Just a thought, I don't have pure evidence to say that's true. When I asked the guy in the ivory tower about submissions, he said we would good for another big pull but isn't expecting it before December for interview dates in Jan/Feb.

But saying "no" only pushes things down the line for the 6 month wait for the second try. Not sure if that actually speeds things up.

If your class date is January that means you interviewed last January/February or off the street. This argument has no bearing or reference to your category. On the flip side, good luck at delta and do good in training.
