Anyone have any idea why we are only running 12-20 new hires a month yet our attrition is just over 30?

Either the company is actually telling the truth about needing to catch up on upgrades or we don't need to hire new people because we will aquire pilots along with airplanes.

Overhired in 2016. We are fat by about 60 new hires, and we are still putting through a good amount this month. It is going down to 20 in the summer months and then resuming full steam ahead this fall. It all balances out.

If we over hired, there would be green days on the reserve grid and the credit push wouldn't go as high up as it does.

I feel like the reserve grid would be red no matter what. They just don’t want us dropping and then picking up at 150%

What's up with NYC losing lines? :( People going from holding lines back to reserve..

^^^^^ This.

Have we all done the employee survey yet? Can I suggest we try and put a stop to these firebreaks? Or at least limit them? 12+ hour duty days and only flying 2-3 legs is ridiculous. I don't think they quite understand how tiring sitting around for hours actually is..

KelvinHelmholtz 04-11-2018 03:42 PM

I don’t think firebreaks are the problem. They wouldn’t be an issue really if we had duty rigs and higher min day

Those reserve threshold numbers are complete bolloxs. DTW was short 16 captains a few days back yet the day wasn’t showing critical pay and there were no reserve days in open time.
