I wouldn't call them lost. I think they were trying to reassure you and the rest of those from that group that you aren't forgotten and just S.O.L.
It reads more like worst case scenario, you'll get the same deal as current new hires but it hasn't been a priority to get to the bottom of yet. This seems fair seeing as the sun setting of the SSP is going to affect more pilots, more immediately. Once that has been dealt with, standby for more info.

What's the difference between the SSP and the DGI? Both aren't a true flow and you must still interview... successfully.

SSP would get you to Delta quicker, theoretically.

That's the way I read it too. We will eventually get an interview, just what it looks like is still up in the air. Obviously the retirement of the SSP is the larger priority right now.

Not sure I agree with that. It seems like with the DGI after 2 years as a captain you interview and if successful you're placed directly into the "pool" whereas with the SSP there was only so much movement per month and per year. I could have read the program wrong though.

So who controls the door to Delta? Our MEC, Line Pilots, Our Mgt? No its Delta and their pilots who decide when and who gets hired. All LOE's
can be enhanced for our benefit if Delta wants it to happen. Endeavor and Delta are investing $50k/year or more to get us qualified to fly for Delta.
Lets enjoy our time here learn something, prepare for our interview and get hired at delta in a couple years and hopefully make some $$$.

Delta pilots play little to no role. Just like anywhere else.

They're not "investing" in us or getting us "qualified" at all. All they are doing is saving 100-150k a year, per pilot, to do the same things they do and fly their routes for them. As far as being qualified, most of us are. It doesn't take 7-9 years, as a lot of pilots here have been waiting, to be qualified to fly for Delta. This is about the easiest flying there is. All that stuff about waiting being a good thing is garbage.

Who does the interviews? I think it's pilots and retired ones.
How do so many military pilots get hired and get recommended.

Well call them up and tell them just that. See how it works for you.
Just because we have atp mins doesn't mean we're qualified in their eyes.
And that's what matters.
