Typically don't post on your threads since I'm at another WO, but just to be clear for anyone that has not fully read the EDV TA, yes their retention bonuses go away, but they are still authorized to pay up to a $20k hiring bonus for new hires according to the TA. Also going under the radar is the big changes they have in their scheduling language.

Obviously the rumors and theories are running rampant with all regionals. Guess only time will tell what really happens but I do believe this will be a pretty big game changer come a year from now.

Thanks, I was thinking the same. The question is Envoy going to shoot themselves in the foot again or will they take the proactive action? I mean the bonuses is their solution to attracting new pilots to here. Now that flow is 9 years and backwards. They would be crazy to not extend the bonuses unless they increase pay rates.

I think we all remember the classes of five and six and three, and it wasn't until the bonuses happened that we've seen the hiring that we're seeing. If mgmt is really going to wait until classes start to dwindle, it's a very bad idea. They'll have lots of guys jumping ship before they even set foot in Irving, and it would be smart to get ahead of that. Banking on a nine year flow and expiring bonuses to attract new hires is a pretty terrible plan, even for this crew.

You're assuming that ALPA would agree to extend the bonuses.

This is correct. And any company can pay whatever new hire bonus they want. That's all outside of the CBA. Retention bonuses are negotiated under the CBA and require ALPA's blessing.

Well.....yeah. Regrettably, yes. Maybe that’s the tactic? When company comes asking about extending bonus agreement and union turns the company down. Then when the hiring slows forces company to exceed 9E wages.

No- they end February 28th, 2018 (payout in March) for FO’s who were receiving the retention bonus prior to September 2016. If you began service on or after September 15th, 2016 you fall under the “New Hires and Current Non-Recipients” category of the LOA and will continue to receive your two years of retention bonuses.

There we go! Thank you, I knew this was the case but didn't know what you know.

I just looked over the LOA and that’s my understanding of it.

Edit: Literally just got the MEC Newsblast and now I’m confused. I may be completely wrong.

Envoy doing pretty good right now attracting FO's with Part 121 experience through their "limited-time" $40K (+$5K on the 145) signing bonus with immediate upgrade.
