Two disturbing observations—

1- Go to the ALPA site and look at the officer compensation for 2017. The president, Capt Tim Canoll, was paid roughly $650,000 last year!! Who would want to rock the boat on that deal?

2- Please realize the Union is a stenographer for what economic conditions pressure the company to do. ALPA has very little impact on anything meaningful with the exeption of helping a non-probationary pilot when he ****s up. That’s worth the 2% they take from my check... in my opinion.

Maybe you should volunteer for the union? There are plenty of vacancies with all the movement.

Maybe union dues should be voluntary, then there might be a little incentive to perform.

Yeah that would be great until a strike or worse happens and then the pilots are assessed big time or just stuck without pay...

Only to be replaced by another group who's flowing in 18 months and won't want to rock the boat. I try not to complain too much about the union because I'm not volunteering since I enjoy my time off, but it's a perpetual cycle right now. I would love professional negotiators to come in from ALPA national, but national doesn't care about the regionals. Our best bet is new hires who have previous union experience in other industries to step up and volunteer. But I'm definitely hypocritical, I'm not putting up so I feel like I should just shut up.

When is the MEC chair heading out the door?

Sad thing is, another stooge will most likely step up and replace him.

I am all for paying a little more our of pocket to hire PROFESSSINAL NEGOTIATORS.

You might want to fact check this. I suspect you have extensive professional support from ALPA national. Regionals always have in the past.

Tell me more about the support from national when they let PSA and Eagle whipsaw each other.

It seems to me there are plenty of lifers at Envoy. Granted, those guys don’t sit reserve unless they want to, so don’t care about reserve rules, but those guys should probably be the MOST interested in pay improvements. A lot of them are 10-15 years to retirement. They are the ones that should be most involved with the union because they are NOT flowing.
