because he knows he’s under a microscope. What someone said before, he’s nice to your face on the line, but in reality he only cares about himself and his “brand”, “self promotion”, “image” “self-enrichment”. He honestly does not give a damn about you.

He's nice to your face, who cares what he's really thinking if he can also fly the airplane? I do think he'll get picked up faster than most, but having been in more mainline jumpseats than usual lately I can imagine he'll enjoy the job less - those guys are way less filtered, comfortably nestled in a career destination job with a strong union.
