Is it safe to assume new hires won’t be getting the 145 for the foreseeable future especially after the announcement by RW?

My buddy was told that but was also told all new hires would be getting DFW due to demand but that looked not to hold true

A second class that small is not a good!

Hope there is a plan, because those numbers are about a third of what they need to be.

jcool734 03-21-2022 08:16 AM

Ya that’s pretty rough!!! Wonder what the issue is

They already told us we’re shrinking, no need to speculate about it.

the question is will they manage it well and do it proportionately or will it be a slaughter where they JM and abuse us one month then toss 100 of us on reserve the next. I think we all know the answer.

Hmmm…

🤔🤔

Of course if JE and Todd have anything to say about it, they will choose THE most painful alternative.

Shrinking Envoy means less flow. 20 flows per months is based on the pilot population. As dumb as RW is when it comes to his treatment of the pilots, I doubt he will mess with the flow and risk a further mass exodus.

Last pilot all call it was said that the company was going to honor 20 per month. But for how long?

He will if we don’t have enough captains to staff summer flying.

Is there any news on Airbus 220 rumor or is that a pipe dream?

That would be a CRACK pipe dream.

That’s a mainline plane under every carriers scope clause.

They said that it's smaller now due to them getting rid of the 145 slots (they didn't say whether or not they're going to start hiring in the 145 in future classes). They only have 20 sim slots per class in the 175 so that's the limitation on the class size. The last orientation they did was just under 50 new hires.

Until some clueless drone at AA finally logs in to Citrix for the first time in the last 2 years of pulling a full salary "working from home" and shoots an email over telling them they're cancelling too many flights due to lack of CA's to JM. Flow goes to zero at that moment and stays there.

LOL! You must be new and have recently shot-gunned some Envoy management kool aid. Before my time but as an Envoy new hire, some old salty Captain I flew with told me that many (Eagle at the time) pilots believed they were going to fly the new 319s on order by AMR. Shortly after, of course, American took the first delivery and the APA pilots began flying them. Hopefully you don't believe you'll be at AA in 5 years or that you are "already American."

Delta flies A220s, not Endeavor. American flew similar sized E195s, not Envoy. This pipe dream is a for cause drug test.

So after reading the last few pages.... what's the deal at Envoy now? 145s actually getting parked and all new hires really going to the 175?

Currently, we are not aware of any plans to park the fleet (145) fully and expect the EMJ to be around for the next few years.”

there was the “$80 for 80’s” proposal years ago for Eagle to fly the MD-80. Thankfully that tanked.

I believe the pages this post reference are on APC. Not everyone has access to what you quoted.

I went back a few pages in this thread and read that the last few classes all got the 175 and people were talking about the company shrinking. That's why I asked if that meant they were parking 145s, and therefore, more importantly, not putting new hires onto the 145 any longer. No need to get your panties in a bunch.

planejoe 03-22-2022 06:14 PM

Are new hires still being given orientation at home and delayed waiting for indoc to start or have those people mostly been caught up now?

Are there any major delays in training\any done at home?

If assigned the 175 how long approximately to hold MIA?

TIA and appreciate any additional info via PM or here.

They’re still parking 15-20 145s this year. Definitely wouldn’t want to be on the bottom of the 145 lists.

We had about a month wait between orientation and indoc. Some others in the same orientation will be waiting 2 months prior to indoc.

Right now, there's a month wait between indoc and the rest of class. I could be wrong but I don't believe there are any delays after this.

Paying guys take month-long vacations is such a good way to spend money.

I highly suggest you take full advantage of this time off. Get your life in order, spend time with family and friends or take advantage of your travel benefits.

It is going to be a very rough road ahead once you hit the line.

It can be hit and miss, but most quarterly bids have allowed for movement between bases. You could see it before you finish training, or it may take three to six months.

Make sure you get the union new pilot guide, available on the ALPA website. It is an Envoy pilot’s guide to a lot of things. Ask pilot mentors about submitting your bid to change base. Bids have been quarterly, closing the beginning of January, April, June and October.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

3/10 orientation was at the hotel (Double Tree). I believe 47 was the total there. It lasted a few hours. We got our #s then went on payroll and given instructions on how to login, etc. First group *could* start class (InDoc day 1) as early as 4/4, but 4/18 is my bet.

In company email we had Learning Center assignments (onboarding videos, HR, about the company, etc).

Our understanding is on day one of actual class we will get the bid drop for base and equipment. Training should be about 74 days, some home study but most in person, with a goal of once you start you run the full course without long delays. (I hear Mesa is stalled waiting on sim timeslots).

Best guess would be MIA 175 FO would be pretty quick (one cycle perhaps) to get.

Study Ahead for Training?

I realize you're not assigned an aircraft until in ground school, but would it be advantageous to study either a cockpit poster of the 145 or 175 ahead of time? Also, do both aircraft have basically the same cockpit setup regarding locations of panels, switches, flows, etc? Thanks for any information you all may give!

NoValueAviator 03-24-2022 05:17 AM

Most people in my NH class studied their flows the night before CPTs and did fine. I'd cool your jets, it's AQP and this place is burning people out left and right now.

But seriously 03-24-2022 05:36 AM

The answer to both questions is no. The only thing in common between the two planes is the style of yoke.

I also wouldn’t pre-study unless I had valid company materials. All 121 operators teach a slightly company specific version of systems. You’d think it’s all the same, but everyone has their own emphasis, their own acronyms, often even company specific limitations.
Its easier to just learn it right the first time instead of unlearning something. That gets confusing.

dera 03-24-2022 07:26 AM

The flows on the 175 FO are like 3 items, so really not worth it.

planejoe 03-24-2022 05:25 PM

Probably smarter to keep sharp on IFR knowledge, approach plates etc vs airplane specific stuff at that point.
