Before coming to Envoy, I was using electronic versions of gov charts. Would have loved to still use those. They work and would have been one less thing to learn. Having said that, electronic is the key word. I’d still be flying corporate if flying for Envoy meant using paper charts.

I don’t think it is a cost issue I think it is a fleet issue. With more than half our fleet unable to get WiFi onboard it would cause issues.

It's a cost issue. FAA trials for inflight WSI WiFi were conducted a couple of years ago for the 175 and CRJ. The company even spent resources on rewriting the STC for the 175 WiFi to comply with the FAA to have inflight WiFi approved. Once everything was just about ready to go, AA began moving away from GoGo to sat based WiFi for the mainline fleet. GoGo was not pleased and in turn decided they were going to charge an arm and a leg to allow Envoy to have inflight WiFi. Envoy said, no thanks.

We had a mainline jumpseater on the 175 and he was connected to WSI through a WiFi connection named “AA crew” or something like that. Be nice if Envoy could give us access to it, as it’s there not being put to use.
