On the flip side. Anyone who left outside the flow in the previous year is looking at potential furlough. I feel extremely lucky to be senior at PSA and not on the bottom of the list somewhere else. I don’t think having a number is worth being on the street. It’s all about timing.

With that attitude, why would you ever leave?

I never said it’s best to stay. I’m just saying it’s luck of the draw. Luckily, this is most likely temporary for just a few months. Take the first opportunity when you can, but be thankful right now if it didn’t work out and you have some seniority in your current position.

In one of my posts I even said it’s usually best to take the first opportunity to move on, but the argument that people who are waiting to flow should have moved on already... isn’t a valid argument in our current environment. You can’t predict the future.

#HereWeFurlough

Voluntary unpaid leave of absence announced. 0 hours, all pay withheld. 30 days at a time. All bennies out of pocket, including employer portion, and they threatened to send it to collections if you don’t pay on time. Non-rev privileges yes. Seniority/longevity yes. sick and vacation no.

Even 10 hours to defray the cost of the insurance would’ve been passable imo, this is an insult and a big FU from the company that felt they had to offer “something” and ultimately did so in bad faith.

Everything they have been sending out are simply done to help mitigate any potential lawsuits later on. Stupid things like checking for fevers, locking yourself up in your hotel rooms, this leave etc. It is all bull****.

This way they can say they tried something. The sooner you realize this management team hates you as a pilot and that our union is virtually powerless to do anything about it, the less surprised and angry you will get about this stuff.

In due course, mainline will probably go first though honestly.

No, not a furlough. This is a wonderful gift from management known as "unpaid voluntary leave". Well, unpaid except that you still owe them all of the out of pocket expenses that normally are pulled from your paycheck. So you will actually owe them money to not work...Think about that.

At least the mainline brethren were given some flight pay to cover all of that nonsense.

Lol getting 3 years of early retirement income at over half of guarantee is more than just "some pay".

That's about half a million dollars before tax for a top year captain. Everyone should think about that before even considering taking this joke offer.
