let’s move on to what information can be monitored and reported. MDM tools can setup regular automated monitoring of all managed devices or they can query specific devices as needed. Provided the device is on and connected to the Internet, it will respond.

Yeah somebody in a separate thread (wish I could find it) claimed company issued devices can be turned on, if true maybe run the battery to 0%, but who would have a dead iPad while on reserve?
