Were you around when PHX opened lol? This is an extremely unrealistic guess. A realistic guess would be no more than 30 in each seat and 10 lines or less. That’s what PHX was like when it first was opened.

Yeah I’m a year on property and I live in the area but I wonder if I’ll be able to hold it. Sounds like a lot of folks who live in the northeast are looking to switch over. And there are quite a few of us who live in the DMV as well.

I’d expect extremely small to start. Management doesn’t even have an opening date yet and they said it’s to slowly replace some of the 145 flying. Expect to have one person on reserve per shift per position and very few lines. The real question is where are they getting the staffing for this new base?

To give you a gauge when Phoenix opened it went a mixture of seniority. A handful of very senior people from both seats and then all the new hires for a few months. That was due to the amount of very senior lifers from when LAX was a base. May be the same on this one from the New York days but who knows how many of those are left in the seniority list. The question is how many people live there and are commuting to MIA, DFW and ORD. Expect very little flying and no movement for at least the first 6 months as management gets a feel for how to use the 170s out of DCA. But sitting reserve at home is way better than commuting anywhere

I was here and pulled our old seniority lists. PHX was at 50 CAs and 39 FOs in June 2023 and was a product of Mesa getting removed and remember them all of a sudden adding all that flying. I think we have so much flying already in and out of DCA and CLT that it wouldn’t take much for them to take the trips that go through there out of our other bases lines and shift that flying. Our pilot group is also almost 500 pilots larger than 3 years ago and taking 10-30 pilots from each base wouldn’t be a big deal if that flying gets shifted. Just my guesstimating and me being optimistic for our northeast/east coast commuters.
