The only problem is that money doesn't exist. Regional airlines and their management do not set the ticket prices, they rely on their parent partners for the pot of money. How do you get more money from the major airlines? If it's too much money, then they might as well bring the flying back in house and end the B scale (regional airlines) right?

Not adjusting regional pay scales, at least for American ($864 million Q2 profit), is going to be hard to justify. Something as simple as eliminating 1st year pay, and adding more a/c is hardly going to negate the justification of a regional B scale.

Not to mention the revenue they stand to loose shutting down Envoy which is what would happen if they fail to entice new hires. I see brighter days ahead for Envoy.

"The money doesn't exist"??? Have you been paying attention to the HUNDREDS of millions of dollars in profit per QUARTER at every single major airline?

But it's mine. How else will I pay for my exec bonuses? Then, when the inevitable downturn happens, I can extract concessionary contracts and give out MORE bonuses. Then declare bankruptcy, and....wait for it, give out "retention bonuses".

Your argument is that Envoy, being a wholly owned carrier, is entitled to the money that American has made. They are two separate companies of course so that money doesn't exist if American doesn't want to fork it over to Envoy right?

So let's say you are right and American decides to give Envoy a much larger pot of money, do they give it to all the regionals including the non wholly owned?

Hit the nail on the head there tom. I would honestly rather see the entire industry die all together, than to just see the wages go up to a less insulting level. The regionals are going to have to renegotiate their contracts with majors, plain and simple. That may not be enough though, too little too late.

2014 RAA CONFERENCE's main concern was the survivability of the entire industry, their only hope/plan currently is getting the 1500 hr rule repealed.

There are going to be drastic changes in the next couple years, mainlines will be taking flying back in house.

That's the number one question that needs to be asked and answered by the regional pilot group. There are no other questions before this. "Should Regional Airlines (B scale) Exist"? Without the regional pilot group rallying around the answer to this question (whether its yes or no), we can't hope to answer question #2.

Regional airline pilots have no true union leadership and no association representing their interests.

FYI the retro pay hit isn't as bad the closer the end of the month you finish. I finished around the 26th or so and the pay hit was negligible. Now your checks will be less of course because there will be no per diem yet too. Say you finish 7/31, your 8/31 paycheck will have no per diem as it is paid out the end of the following month (Aug per diem paid on 9/30). Confused yet?
Btw same with OT, it's paid out the end of the following month.
