What is the current expected reserve time at Skywest? Also, how long to get IAH as a base?

I heard Compass is at most a 2 month reserve. Is that accurate?

Thanks.

My friend was just hired at compass and is still on reserve(1month in so far)

Skywest told me around 2 months and the longest wait for a base is 10 total after IOE

The OP has one offer and hasn't interviewed anywhere else yet although he has one pending.

Take the first class date then decide from there if you have more choice.

Your right I haven't interviewed with SW yet however it's always good IMO to see what others(hopefully employees) have to say, there will always be the nay Sayers but it's been very helpful so far

What would you guys say to someone who is trying to decide between Compass, Skywest, Endeavor, and Piedmont?

I don't care where I base, I don't plan on commuting. If I were to commute though it would be from DFW. Just trying to figure out where I should go, I have about 1200 hours right now and should be at ATP mins by March 2016.

Compass just raised first year pay to $35.81 an hour, offer four commuter hotels a month, and hotels in base during IROPS. We also operate several flights a day from DFW-LAX with three jumpseats.

Sounds like a win for Compass!

Just read on the SkyWest SAPA forum how a Captain that bids number 6 in PDX got assigned a 4 day trip over Christmas. Pilots junior to him have it off.

BTW SkyWest PBS is the worst!

I know, some of you will say he didn't bid correctly, but between globalization and complexity our PBS sucks!

Forget seniority?

This is what happens we you have inefficient trips, you want to make the pilots suffer for the inefficient trips, besides the fact they have nothing to do with the trip inefficiencies. Then force their bids to unreasonable standards which are not known before the bid starts. Make sure there is no other way to get a day off without calling in sick, and you have the perfect PBS/SS combination.

SAPA VP says he is working on bid transparencies. I look forward to reading that with the reserve proffering TA that is almost ready to roll out since Fall of 2008.

Let's see you have that same attitude in about 3-5 years when you are desperately trying to get hired on at a mainline carrier. Meanwhile everyone at Envoy who was at your seniority and junior has already flowed to AA.

Save your "the world can end tomorrow and therefore the flow will stop" excuses.

5-ish, maybe ...

3-ish? Not a chance. I doubt even they fed you that cheese, but if they did you might ask for a little Kool-Aid to help wash it down.

Considering #6 is 26% in PDX its plausable... But stories seem to wonder.. There are only 23 Captain (CRJ) in PDX. If you said #6 in MSP. Then i would be mad...

It appears there were 10+ training failures, terminated, in November.

Not sure how many were in class at SkyWest.

There's a new manager for sim training that's trying to make a name for himself.

Choose wisely......

Go to Envoy if you live in DFW. If you live in a SKyWest domicile, go there. I've worked for SkyWest for 2 years and really like it here.
