My man, you clearly have a lot to learn. No company, in any industry, no matter how hard up on staffing should be preventing an employee from attending a FUNERAL. "Your(you're) a pilot" is not the end all be all answer to when you need to not be at work.
You clearly have already made up your mind, as evidenced by asking people to tell you only good things about envoy and leaving out the bad. Go ahead and go to Envoy and find out for yourself. |

Wouldnt pilots on the inside know how bad it is. AND yeah low staffing would make me understand why I cant get that day off. YOUR A PILOT you should know you wont be there for family events and emergencies.

There are provisions for bereavement in the contract. However, it is limited to immediate family only. And knowing how Envoy is, they will absolutely be no give in that. So, maybe that's why the guy got denied. Have an uncle that raised you like a dad your entire life? Tough, not in the contract. That, in and of itself, should tell you all you need to know about this company.
The defenders of all things Envoy should be along shortly to counter these arguments. In fact, I'm surprised they haven't showed yet. What's the old saying. When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. |
Yawnboy has flow. As hallow a promise as it is, it could be your golden ticket.

Do we really need a thread for every time someone is applying to the regionals?

I'd expect the flow to be quicker then 10 years but if you hope for the best and prepare the worst, like you're doing, then you're approaching this career correctly.
For those who magically think united, delta, or aa will call when they hit their 1000 tpic...good luck! Let's see, delta is taking a certain amount from endevour (and then military), United is taking a certain amount from commutair and express jet (and then military) and aa is taking a HUGE amount from their wholly owneds (and then military). See a common theme? daOldMan works at PSA, so no surprise he hates eagle. The others appear to be newbies at Skywest who are clearly in the dark as to the realities of the networking (and a lot of luck!) that it takes to get on with one of the big 3. As for not getting off for a funeral, ***?! I've been given bereavement leave 3 times in my nearly decade here. No questions asked. Once was unpaid as it was a second uncle and the other two were paid for both my grandfathers. All three instances were extremely easy. Best of luck to you. You sound like you have a good attitude and are starting this marathon of a career off in the right direction. At only 25, you'll do great. |
Want something sobering, My Dads at United like 70% of Express jet pilots I can't pass the Hogan my interview ended there. Now they are barely hiring off the street because of the pref interviews and reduced hours.
My uncle's at Delta, I was told to get a master degree if I wanted an interview. American is not going to hiring you off the street. I'll most likely flow in 2019 the last 5 1/2 have extremely sucked at Eagle. In hindsight I made the right call. I want mainline. 6 job fairs 5000 hours, a public ivy college degree, and not a single Skelton in my closet. I volunteer one day a week, I'm in great health, i was student govt president at Rutgers and a great father. I have 20 recs at United and 7 at Delta and 13 at American. Stomach that when you pick an airline. I'd pick Envoy. I'm going to make almost 80k this year as an fo. I hardly work. |

I don't know a single Envoy pilot that would defend this. They should at least accomodate a PE or PO. I don't know the full story either. All I know is that a staffing emergency on scheduling a part does should not equate to a scheduling emergency on my part.

No, I do not work at PSA. I have friends and relatives that work there, but I do not. My nephew got hired there a little over a year ago.
But, I can tell you that PSA does have "Personal Emergency Days". The first couple are paid, the rest are unpaid. Just call the Chief, tell him/her that you need off for a funeral, and poof - you are off. Same thing goes for a broken hot water heater, a wife's car that is broken down, or any other family emergency. |
