Truly dishonorable the way Skywest played this whole deal.
I understand the business environment has changed, and that delta is going a different way..... But this whole thing has been done in a horrible fashion.
ASA has lots of truly great people left-and they didn't deserve to be done this way.

It does suck.. but read Delta's take on it (on Deltanet)
"As Delta has continued to elevate its regional operation to reach mainline levels of performance, over the last several years, ExpressJet’s operational reliability has fallen short of Delta’s high standards and its cost structure exceeded the other carriers in the Delta portfolio. "

Delta doesn't care about anything but cost.
Endeavor won't do a bit better with those broke ass old 200s.
It's about seniority. ASA has way more people who have been there a long time-and hence, they are more expensive. Just like ACA and Comair..... Once a regional becomes a place that doesn't totally blow, too many people stick around-and pretty soon some other regional undercuts them.
One other component is Skyw's desire to keep the union out.... After seeing this, and given the fact that Lxjt will be shut down eventually, you can bet Skywest pilots will never vote a union in.

There is a way to bring down costs and increase performance to the level of Skywest airlines. But management is more concerned with keeping one side non-union in order to exert downward pressure on us all. Could you imagine spreading the costs of the entire corporation around 500+ aircraft?! Not to mention the reduction in costs by getting rid of redundant management and administrative personnel, and leveraging third party contracts (economies of scale).

I'll remember this a long time. And delta won't see a penny from me or my family.
(Come to think of it, they don't now. I swore them off at Comair. Very obvious the way mgmt wanted to play it. Every once in a while I buy tickets, and they never read "delta.")
