I have it on good authority that adding TYS to the standing bid options before they actually award positions there is to gauge how many pilots are interested in the base...since it is a virtual base purely dependent upon volunteers...no pun intended...
:D

Wouldn’t be so bad for us CRJ guys and gals...however!

My understanding is we will slide in as FOs somewhere, but be forced to take the first upgrade wherever that occurs.

So anything regarding hypothetical bases, seats, seniority, etc. is just that- an exercise in nothing.

TYS is a three hour drive from the northern burbs. Commuting through ATL from the northern burbs to any UAL base is at least 4 hours, if you get a seat. After you survive the downtown connector or I-285.

Bid is open for all pilots but you gotta be flying an ERJ, no CRJ flying out of TYS planned as of now.

No CRJ flying period after Chip transfers all of it to Inc.

They did say they were working to place the CRJs somewhere. So it hasn’t exactly been a lie.

AWESOME 😎

No thx

It probably would help the LCCs to lose some of their tackier traditions, like that one and like paying first year FOs less than they would make as a captain at a regional.

Those guys at Frontier may get released for cooling off at any time. That’s a bad situation for a new hire on probation. Strike and probably get fired. Fly and forever be labeled a scab. I’d take my chances getting fired.

If that happens, would the fired pilots be guaranteed to be rehired as part of the strike ending?

No. They are on probabtion. Their return would have to be negotiated as part of a settlement. If I remember correctly, some UAL new hires had to sue ALPA to get their jobs back after the last UAL strike.

It would be an uncomfortable position....

But, I don’t think frontier will strike. Airline strikes aren’t allowed anymore.
