Reserve pilots have been crediting that high? Both EWR and ORD on the 145?

Why would a new hire not see the 175? I expect the 145 but is the 175 a reward for the more senior folks or something?

Yes. A reward for their seniority.
I wouldn't say "will never see", but it will be several years before a new hire sees a -175.

All depends. If we get a lot more, then they will see it. If we stay at 25, they will see it later then earlier.

As the 175's come online the senior folks will take the positions. I would think that by late summer or early fall new hires will begin to get positions in the 175's.

Folks, does getting the 175 or not that important? Why is it such a big issue in this forum? Surely, it is a beautiful shiny jet; more modern than the 145. However, the regionals are the beginning of a career for most and many times the end goal is to fly for one of the majors (passenger or cargo). Getting ERJ 145 time vs 175 time, vs CRJ time is not a big deal. Be the best at flying and learning the airframe you’re assigned. Prepare for that Airbus or Boeing assignment.

If working for the regionals is your goal, there is nothing wrong with that. It is a career to be proud of because you mapped your success for that goal and not many of the 1% of the pilot population can say they even fly for a regional.

Finally, if reserve officers are getting over 80 hours a month, consider that the majority of that flying is with the 145s. We have yet to see how much flying the 175 reserve officers will fly vs the 145 reserve officers.
