If you check your company email yes. The first 4 head to IAH.

Republic is about ~67% owned by American, Delta, and United.

That’s a bizarre situation and likely more of a hindrance than a benefit.

Yeah, it’s extremely bizarre. It remains to be seen the true side effects of it.

It’s not normal for a company to invest their own hard earned capital into another company that also benefits their two biggest competitors.

And mind you, it’s not like it was AA, DL and UA’s choice to invest in Republic.

It’s a result of their BK. Legacies trying to protect their feed.

Yes, I am aware. The point is, show me another company that is majority owned, in any industry, by three cutthroat competitors, plays a central role in their profitability and competitive advantage, while having a long-term and successful relationship. Particularly as they fight for an ever diminishing scarce resource.

I'm not predicting the end of Republic. Far from it, I hope it continues to be a great place, but something is gonna have to change over there. This situation, IMO, is borderline untenable and it's gonna bubble up and overflow sooner or later.

I'm not predicting something negative, just changes to the ownership structure.

For any expressjet pilots starting in Chicago this morning: how do you do the preflight in the cold wind ? Do they provide any warming layers you can throw on, or do you just do it quickly? I don’t usually balk T cold wind but it’s -19 F with 20 mph winds. What do the baggage handlers do to keep their eyeballs from freezing? What do the FOs do to prevent frostbite during preflight?

No company provided warning layers...
I bring a hat, gloves, scarf, wear my leather jacket. If that’s not enough I can take out the fleece from my overnight bag and put that underneath. Some guys have the uniform sweater or trench coat. The preflight shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes for the first flight of the day, 3 for postflight.

Rampers have warm clothes too and have what looks like company issued overalls that provide protection from the wind.
