Post Food during training?

So random thought, but in training since you are cooped up in a hotel room, what do people do for food? I assume the hotel has free breakfast?

Not all hotels have a breakfast. I’ve been at Haytt no free breakfast. Haytt is good hotel, but isn’t location for long stay especially if you have no car. In walk distance only McDonalds. Sheraton has free breakfast, I don’t know about Best Western.

Can somebody at the La Quinta report on the breakfast situation?

Finest powdered eggs in a 2 mile radius.

(All LQI's are pretty much the same. It gets you through but don't expect to eat anything healthy or nutritious)

Training in IAH is definitely lacking on food options close by both the training center and hotels on JFK. I can't imagine going through initial without a car. There's literally no where to eat within walking distance of the training center. One would have to buy groceries and bring their lunch.

I can offer one exception: The LQI where we stay in Laredo has a good breakfast. Real eggs usually mixed with ham, frijoles with chorizo, fresh salsa verde. If you ask the cook (he English no very gooo, though) he can get you some tortillas or make vegetarian eggs. For lunch or dinner I strongly recommend the Mexican restaurant in the parking lot.

The food is the only good thing about that overnight.

Do they still have the vendors come in for lunch?

Next to the Sheraton and BW, there's a few decent places: Gumbo Jeaux's (cajun), Al Wadi (middle eastern), Papa Tony's pizza, and don't forget Hoot County

The restaurant in the Sheraton (Drifter's they call it) is also actually good. I recommend the chicken bacon avocado wrap.

Am I too much of a food nerd?
