All those airlines provide commuter hotels. Generally 4 paid hotels a month. So not industry standard, but darn near. When a Trans States Holdings operator provides them that's saying something.

duty rigs, min day pay, commuter hotels are all great ideas and I think they would be worth bargaining for.
duty rigs / min day: if the company uses pilots efficiently, this is free.
commuter hotels: this makes it safer for pilots to commute, rather than taking red-eyes or sleeping in a crew room.
the fact that this job is easy doesn't have anything to do with my previous experience, it's an objective fact. The people who think it is hard are either blowing smoke or in the very early stages of learning.

Fair enough. I didn’t know that. Your MEC should aim for that as a goal.

You and many others want new pilots to have a worse attitude which you consider the “right” attitude. The prospects for a new hire today if you look at it from a realistic perspective are fantastic with this company. Notice I said realistic and not optimistic. I’ve been called a sunshine pumper, a recruiter, a liar and several more things on here when I said the upgrade times would drop and that the place was an opportunity. Here we are a few months later and we get an email saying the company hopes it doesn’t have to hire DECs next year.
There are still plenty of guys who will only spew negativity. The next recession is right around the corner or the company is now lying about the 1000 hour upgrades coming. All of that is wishing ill will towards your new co-workers. So who has the bad attitude?

Recessions are a matter of “when” it happens not “if”. They are 8-10 year economic cycles and we are on the 10th since the last big one (if you count from when we started recovering)
Will it be as bad as the 2008-2009? Most likely not

I guess if you find the job difficult, that is your experience and it is valid. Unfortunately at a major airline it will likely be even harder. I see why you are so passionate about higher pay here, are you considering a career at XJT?

Why do you say it is harder at a major airline?

I'm more curious to learn about the challenges these pilots find mentally or physically demanding. I could be ignorant to a significant part of my job, and mistaking it as easy while the whole time I was just fouling it up.
