Good. Hopefully that will make 100 seat jets attractive to United out of necessity and much of the regional feed will be replaced by mainline. I’d love to see the regionals downsized and eventually eliminated. It took years of the majors giving up scope relief to get here, going back the other way will take time too. I don’t wish that anyone anguish in regional hell longer than needed, but there are just so many available slots and some people, both good and bad, aren’t going to get picked.

You also seem a little steamed that the fat chick isn’t winking at you. If she’s that bad, find another bar with better looking girls.

There are only a few girls in the bar that the guys are trying to get to. They’re all a little stuck up. If your distaste for this one is that bad, you shouldn’t be upset because she isn’t looking your way. Go find one that you are a little sweet on and try your luck. Those kids at home that you mention aren’t expected to live at home forever. Working for a company that is contracted to perform work for another doesn’t mean that you should be given preferential treatment. Build your resume and realize that you’re just one of thousands of people just like yourself who want something better. I hope that you find it. I never set out to work here specifically. I did everything that I could to build a resume, applied everywhere, and prepared for my interview like my life depended on it. I’m at UAL now, but I would have been just as grateful if DAL or AA had called instead. I don’t mean to sound like the lecturing old guy, but some here seem to feel that they are owed something, and the fact is, that none of us are. Life is about making the best of what you have, not being bitter about what could have been. I’m supposed to be a pretty senior captain by now, but 9/11, years of scope relief, a furlough, age 60, and a merger altered that plan. All of that was out of my control, so I don’t dwell on it. There are more important things in life.

 

The regional airlines are turning into industry disrupters. We fly airplanes that can be configured up to 88 seats but limited to 76 seats for now. In the next downturn, we will expand further. Mainline pilots have caused this problem because they fought against a flow through.

If one can be thrown entirely out of a mainline interview process for a sick call at an inopportune moment, then that process needs to be outed as such.

No one is demanding anything but if your ultimate goal is UAL, you should consider carefully this scheme.
