True, but most only have 12 days off, commute to work, fly for low wages, have four hour sits during the day, and treated unfairly by United. You said 'Aviate' is a great thing, so shame on you for supporting a program designed to hurt our regional pilot group!

The best thing for regional pilots is for the regionals to shrink away to the smallest possible. I prefer they be eliminated, but that’s not realistic. More jobs at mainline is good for all, except maybe you. But you’ve proven that it wouldn’t be a good fit, and you’re doing just fine where you are.

1) I haven't been around that long and I have 14 days off. My last captain had a relief line and had 17 days off in October out of EWR.
2) Commuting to work is a personal choice. You can complain about it because it sucks, but you can't blame the company for it. *Maybe* you can if you were displaced from your base or if the company shut down a base you lived in.
3) if someone thinks the wages are low, why did they accept an employment offer here? Nobody can say they're surprised by their pay.
4) in several months I have maybe had one or two scheduled sits of four+ hours. Are there actually pilots who get them every day, or even one on every trip? If so that is news to me and I'd like to see the pairing for proof.
5) "treated unfairly by united" ok, I guess this is a matter of opinion. And you mean Expressjet, not united, correct?
6)"shame on you for supporting aviate" Say that to the XJT pilots at United now who went via the CPP. I believe hundreds will get to United earlier than they could as off the street hires, similar to the success of the CPP. It's not perfect but it will help out a lot of young pilots get to United. The ones it doesn't help can moan and complain about it, or get busy getting hired off the street somewhere. This whole "we deserve it!" mindset is boring and those who have it flaunt their ignorance of the way the world works.

Please. The pay here is middle of the road and the work rules are highly outdated. Back in 2004 it was considered industry leading. The times have changed.

For example, we don’t even have duty rigs, our min day pay is 2hrs (industry standard is 3.5 - 4hrs) and no commuter hotels.

I’m curious how your seniority holds anything more than 12 days off. 80% of hard lines are min days in all bases.

2.5 - 3.5hr sits are very much the norm here on low and it’s possible for the company since we do not have any duty rigs. Reassignments are also the norm.

This place is far from the worst but improvements must be made if we wish to attract the best and brightest, or any pilots in general. The company has admitted that the steady flow of new hires has dwindled to just a trickle as other more competitive companies begin hiring again.

duty rigs, min day pay, commuter hotels are all great ideas and I think they would be worth bargaining for.

duty rigs / min day: if the company uses pilots efficiently, this is free.

commuter hotels: this makes it safer for pilots to commute, rather than taking red-eyes or sleeping in a crew room.

the fact that this job is easy doesn't have anything to do with my previous experience, it's an objective fact. The people who think it is hard are either blowing smoke or in the very early stages of learning.

Who else has commuter hotels besides C5? It’s an awesome concept, but it’s certainly not “industry standard”. Wish it was.

This job isn’t easy, but people do make it way harder than it has to be most of the time.
