And all this stuff with Mana Air, United and the future of TSH is all related to that deal falling apart last year.
Dude all you do is spread rumors. You are just making up crap and spreading hear-say..

FlyingKat, thanks, for the new info. I was in the Delta Connection side for 20 year and watched Delta give up Scope. The IMHO it was the biggest mistake they ever made.

Now if United comes in and somehow has total control of United Express and turns this thing around it might work for both sides.

Have you heard anything about the CRJ-550 is having a range problem due to scope weights. I've heard that the 550 will only have a 300 mile range. I can't confirm that yet.

Yes I have heard about the 550 issues with range from some Gojet folks. It appears it will have problems when alternates are required for flights around an hour. The problem is the weight required to meet scope doesn't leave much room for fuel. At least they were able to get rid of one of the FAs. Never flown the 700 so I didn't ask specifics, just general information that it does have range limitations. However most of the markets UAL wants to use them for are short haul stuff to ORD and EWR with business travelers and leave the longer range stuff to the 170s and 145XRs.

Look I don't like the 550 more than anyone, but this is what it is. I would love to see UAL pilots stick it to management and get every bit of flying on their property. However there are certain realities to this so we'll see where they end up. But like you, I've seen it time and again where you have mainline guys running around bragging on scope, that nobody they know in the crew room is giving up scope, and their Reps are telling them hell no on scope, we've got enough regional guys who know the importance of scope, yada yada yada and then the MEC sends down a TA with juuust enough carrots to get them to vote for scope and everyone wonders how it passed. Its one thing to puff your chest out in the crew room and pontificate, then when you are sitting in your $400,000 home looking at the boat and the sports car in the driveway, and your kids come in with their college applications and you get your ballot and you start thinking about the carrots and you vote yes. Happens all the time, and as I said earlier, all they need is 50 percent plus one to pass a contract. Not judging them either way because ultimately, everybody has to take care of their own situation, but pardon me if I'm a skeptic,

I just hope UAL pilots and management sh@t or get off the pot soon so those of us at Expressjet, Compass, Trans States, Gojet, Mesa, and Commutair can figure out where this is headed and move on. Trans States Holdings has been twisting in the wind for the last year and a half. Either UAL gets the scope it wants and molds us all into Mana Air with a flowup/down and we all hold hands and sing kumbaya (and staple Gojet to the bottom ), or they don't and we all are fighting for scraps, 550s, and 145XRs. I'm at the point I don't really care what they do but would like to get an idea what the future is for my company so I know where we are headed so I can figure out if I want to hold out for the F9 flow, head to another LCC, stick it out till I hear from the dream job, or make a lateral move.

Peace

It will be:

1. The purpose of today was to string you along a little.
2. Next: They come up with something weak which won't flow you very fast or at all. All benefit will be to United.
3. Announce an upcoming revision to the CPP since #2 didn't keep people from leaving enough.
4. String you along another 6-12 months.
5. Announce something.
6. Repeat starting at #1.

to avoid quoting the message sent around, it's gonna be announced within the week, and be industry leading. ALPA was mentioned as a collaborator on the design of the new program, and a mention of multiple entry points was in there as well (multiple express carriers? kind of vague...). They want to be better than the competition... I'm not sure what's better than a flow, so speculate away!

It doesn't sound like a flow, but maybe something easier, like no hogan or no degree required. Get online to airline apps and redo your stuff doesn't sound like a flow through, which means an interview will still be required... not sure how this would be "industry leading"??

“Industry leading” is perhaps the most played-out term in this business.

FWIW, I’d bet against flow. Hopefully it gives plenty of worthwhile candidates an honest opportunity.

I'd bet you're right on that. The fact that ALPA was actually involved this time is making me much more optimistic. I rode on an FO reps jumpseat once and he told me had they been consulted originally the program would have been more like a flow. I still don't buy that the hiring team would give up that amount of control, though. If it doesn't give everyone on property the opportunity to participate (including 2nd attempt fails) I'll be disappointed. Is there anyone still in the pool?

Due to the inconsistent nature of the original program, I agree with the 2nd attempt guys having a shot.......but that’s a VERY hard concept to sell. I guess we will see.
