Under PBS 12 days of work for 60 hours credit would have been a crappy month for me even with holidays off. 12 days 75 hours+ was the norm for me as a senior pilot under PBS. Most months I was more than that. A really bad month was working 15 days for about 90 hours. And yes, I did both line bidding and PBS. ASA line bidding, ASA PBS, and ExpressJet line bidding (and others as well).
People need to stop getting caught up in PBS versus line bidding. It all depends on the work rules. It’s like someone who has only driven a Trabant claiming it’s the best car in the world.

You fail to understand that it had nothing to do with vacation low. It has everything to do with trip construction. If four day trips are built at 25 hours+, 3 four day trips puts you at 75 hours+.

Do you really think PBS will give everyone 18 days off a month? No, you know you're ultra senior and it positively affects you more than others. Not to mention the younger pilots and new hires are already paying increased health insurance costs for the very senior lifers here. PBS would not allow them line improvement and QOL gains.

The old ASA PBS could be a possibility.
It's all about the Language.
The current bidding system is like living in the stone age.
You waste WAY to much of our time under the current system to adjust the crappy schedule you're awarded.
PBS set it and forget it.

That's great, unfortunately vacation bidding will be negatively affected by PBS and as others have said PBS is not so great for a pilot group when we're understaffed.

That's the thing. The old ASA PBS will likely not be on the table.
Line bidding can be extremely advantageous if you know how to do it.
Legacy XJT pilots have zero interest in PBS and have no patience to listen to ASA lifers complain about it as they take our seats on the ERJ and degradate our quality of life putting many back on reserve.
Have some self awareness to understand it's not all about the way it was done on the ASA side. Those planes are gone. Many pilots are losing pay and days off with their family to keep CRJ pilots employed. The vast majority understand this and are well accepted and welcomed.
A few bad apples spoil the cart for the rest.. Let's not bring back the negativity between the two pilot groups that largely had a big part in giving ammunition to SkyWest shrinking us to the point we are now.

Nope, line bidding gives attention to seniority. It also allows those junior to improve their schedule if they so choose.

PBS can be disasterous when understaffed. The company sets a minimum credit threshold that EVERY awarded schedule has to hit regardless of seniority.
If there’s no staffing, the credit threshold can be over 90 hours and sometimes approach 100 hours for every pilot in the system.
Just think: 95 hours indefinitely with your only option being to trade down to lower value trips (maybe), but rarely an extra day off. Increasing time off in a vacation month? Not likely. Unless you have a vacation-low feature which is very, very unlikely to return.
Seeing as how that’s our new modus operandi, they will exploit it to its fullest.
Touch-drop line bidding with ILIW is not worth giving up. They will try.
