Rumor is that Commutair will be getting a ORD and/or IAH base as their fleet grows. They currently have 38 145XR aircraft and are contracted to get up to 60 145's total. That would be the remaining XR's in XJT's fleet since Trans States flies the rest.
Question is when not if Expressjet goes to an all 175 fleet. Will be interesting to see what happens with the Mesa 175 and CRJ-700 contract renewals..

Why don't XJT FOs who want to upgrade go to Commutair? Nice bonus and with 1000 hrs you could be a direct entry captain. The junior Commutair CA lineholder in EWR was hired this year, or at least late last year.
If the goal is to get 1000 PIC and then move on to greener pastures, going to Commutair and getting a line would be a heck of a lot better than waiting years to get off reserve in Houston. They also offer 4 hotels a month.

Would not be shocked if XJT gets Mesas 175s... or atleast some. There is some reason why United has not extended mesa’s contract. Makes so much sense for XJT to give as much work and planes to both c5 and xjt with as much invested they have in both.

Xjet can’t even staff what they have now. People are leaving there quicker than they hire.

The new XJT owner while he was at his previous carrier (c5) made the statement that there would only be 4 regional carriers for UA.
He got the pilot group small enough at c5 to force a one fleet type operation at the company and then the pilot group started to grow again. Sound familiar? There were a lot of pilots stuck not upgrading and pilots stuck on reserve while the training department turned into a train wreck. His past continues to repeat itself.
C5 is starting service into ORD in October. It will be a through city like DEN used to be at XJT before the base opened. One of the flights is ORD-SAV. For those of us that were in and out of ORD when we started flying for UA, feel free to laugh at the C5 guys getting yelled at just like we did when we started back in 2009/10. I would not plan on a IAH base before next summer.
