Why do you quote individual base upgrade times from bids in which that base had no openings, and got 1 or 2 because of someone taking the new plane and creating a vacancy at their old base?

I am trying to give potential new hires or whoever else might like it information about the earliest available upgrade at the company. Not a bunch of convoluted numbers about the most Jr upgrade to a base during a bid that had no openings to that base. I think the difference is very obvious.

As far as explaining how it will happen just watch ok? Make as big a deal about it as you can right now so that you can sound that much dumber when it does actually happen.
Potential new hires should never use current upgrade times as a reason to go to a particular airline. They change way to fast and one day can be the difference between 2 week upgrades or 3 year upgrades.

I don’t disagree. It’s just been used as a reason not to come here and as much as anything I’m trying to point out that it’s changing rapidly. To your point, it’s more relevant to people hired last year than to those being hired currently.

The ExpressJet profile page is advertising the most junior CA is an October 2016 hire. Will this new bid allow for upgrade to drop to under 2 years?

No because this bid is only for 175 CA, which is more senior. There will be a trickle down effect and the upgrade will drop, but the next bid will be the one.

I give it 12-18 months for the shiny jet syndrome to go away and he will see the light.

Pretty sure he's one of those older "second career dream job" guys. Probably couldn't get hired or pass airline training until the standards went way down the last few years.

Of course, the timeline on that bid will matter as the longer it takes to do, the longer the upgrade time window of course.
