Why are they doing this?!?

This is why:

"7 September 2019

Since the purchase of ExpressJet by ManaAir, LLC. in January of this year, your XJT Negotiating Committee (NC) and ExpressJet flight operation managers have met in-person 17 times to engage in Letter 2 discussions. In June, the company requested all parties enter into a Protocol Agreement, which would define a structure and schedule for further meetings in order to help the parties move forward with Letter 2 talks. The NC submitted a proposed Protocol Agreement draft to the company, which was promptly rejected by company representatives who stated, "It's too formal. We're not in Section 6. We do not need this."

Following the company's rejection of the Protocol Agreement draft, the NC met with then Vice President of Flight Operations Greg Wooley and Director of Flight Operations Darrin Greubel on July 23 and 24 to discuss the company-requested and company-rejected Protocol Agreement and Letter 2. On July 30, the NC met with newly-appointed Vice President of Flight Operations Scott Hall, Director of Inflight Services Dan Curtin, and ExpressJet attorney Elizabeth Galbavy to continue Letter 2 discussions and to express concerns about operational issues that have affected the airline's performance and our pilots' quality of life.

One week later, on August 6, ExpressJet Chief Administrative Officer & General Counsel John Varley explained to us that the company's negotiating team was changing. Scott Hall would no longer be leading pilot negotiations for the company. The company was now working with Ellen Ham of the Ford and Harrison law firm. John also asked that we take a break from negotiations for a couple of weeks so they could get Ellen up to speed. A meeting was scheduled for August 27 and 28, giving the company two weeks to prepare.

The following week, the company requested to push the meeting out four weeks to the second week of September. The NC insisted that it was in both parties' best interest to meet sooner. The company agreed to meet on September 3 and 4.

In attendance for the company during the September 3 and 4 Letter 2 discussions were Ellen Ham of Ford and Harrison, ExpressJet attorney Elizabeth Galbavy, and company managers Darrin Greubel, Gerhard Dupont, John Kane, Jill McKnight, and Paul Adamson. In attendance for the Association were MEC Chairman Joe Mauro, NC Chairman Ivan Harris, NC member Robert Perryman, NC member Chris Cadiz, ALPA representation attorney Anna LeBovidge, and ALPA Senior Economic Analyst Rushi Patel. The parties exchanged and discussed proposals and agreed to information production by the company, which is necessary for a costing analysis. The meeting was productive, and the parties are scheduled to continue Letter 2 talks on September 27 in order to give the Association adequate time to properly analyze the information supplied by the company.

As difficult as these discussions have been, we remain cautiously optimistic that management is finally on track to negotiate Letter 2 and provide the much-needed improvements we delayed, at the company's request, during Section 6 negotiations for Contract 2018. The deal is not done. We will update you on further developments as talks progress. "



The company is just stalling and not negotiating in good faith. On top of that they bring in the Ford and Harrison Law Firm. There hasn't been any sign of the company playing fairly in over a year.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The union is going to apply equal pressure as the company until actual results happen.

You’re absolutely correct!

However, if you only have 25 Dual Class aircraft and you’re not awarded any more? Then you continue to staff less and less flying on your 50 seat aircraft??

Do you really have the leverage to get contractual improvements at the present time??

Is discouraging pilots from coming to staff your present fleet really playing the “LONG GAME”????


Numbers of the rank and file members have doubts.

Surejetz is correct. Dsps is an inexperienced hack who doesn't understand, if not a member of management. Pilots who are questioning the current Alpa strategy haven't been a union pilot long enough to understand.

How does this strategy of less pilots and worse performance convince United to give us more flying?

Are we missing the goal?

Is the local Alpa leadership simply waiting for XJT to go out of business?

A lot of us aren’t seeing path to success following the current course.

Please show or tell us how we win by following the MEC blindly down this path?

I tried telling these guys, you aren’t only attacking the company with this nonsense, you are attacking new hires as well. Pilots come to regionals in hopes of rapid advancement. That is beginning to show promise at XJT. In fact the signs have been there for some time for those willing to look.

Trying to prevent new hires from coming to XJT is a cheap tactic that only benefits lifers who have no intention of ever leaving!!!!

Anyone who wants to advance their careers by upgrading sooner, getting off reserve sooner, moving on to their next job sooner is HARMED by this union tactic!!!

We pay union dues just like the rest of the pilots!! We deserve to have OUR interests represented!!

There are ways to negotiate without attacking our own pilots!!!
