DSPS, you've stated that you are a new hire at ExpressJet. Yet you seem to have your finger on the pulse of flight operations, recruiting, and our future. So, DSPS come clean are you really a new hire or someone from the GO? I don't have a problem if you're from the GO just be honest!

I have no inside information other than experience from a totally different industry. I look at the seniority list and see that there is a lot of turnover and that there were very few people hired in 2018 and see that obviously upgrade times will plummet. This is there for anyone to see and it’s really simple. However for some reason the vast majority choose to look at what the upgrade time was for the last bid and think that will never change. They don’t even ask themselves how it got to be that way and what is different now. I came to XJT because I saw the opportunity no one else could see and now frankly I’m in the exact position I was looking for entering the regional world. It could change at any time, but so far I’m extremely happy with me decision.
If I could have known the Union was going to try to prevent new hires from coming it probably would have changed my position. I thought the campaign would be more successful. Thankfully it appears that it has not been all that successful and after the next bid things will change dramatically and the company will be able to grow, if the training department can keep up. That is looking like a huge if BTW.

Think whatever you want. I’m a new hire. Actually a career changer.

Some of us sat as FOs for 7+ years while we saw flying go to every other carrier but us. (L-ASA & L-XJT) Please excuse the lack of excitement for 30+ aircraft and a single new hire FO shooting rainbows and unicorns out their *** saying everything is all fixed.

The reason the Union set up that website is to educate new hires about the real issues at Expressjet. You can hope that the future looks bright, but the past actions of the Company strongly outweigh your optimism.

Now things have changed for the better and I have chosen to follow my dreams. So forgive me if I’m not very sympathetic to those who choose to ignore the light at the end of the tunnel because of darker days in the past.
It sucks that you went through those challenges, but that doesn’t mean change is not on the horizon. You see things differently than I do, and for good reason. But don’t ask me why I see things the way I do then persecute me for answering honestly.

"The thinking by these guys is that they have 15-20 years at XJT and they don’t care how much it shrinks because it doesn’t affect them. They are at the point in their careers that whether the airline shrinks or grows they are at their choice of base, left seat and the only way their seniority improves is when guys ahead of them leave. The only thing they care about is contract improvement because they have every intention of working the rest of their careers for XJT. The fact that it sends pilots/planes elsewhere is irrelevant because they truly believe United “needs” them.
It’s literally 2 for me none for you. And they expect us to just “shut up and get off probation.” They will also tell you that “You will never make it with that attitude” or “You'll never make captain with that attitude” as if that is supposed to intimidate you into complacency.
There is no doubt the #1 reason not to come to XJT right now is the joke of an MEC we have. However in spite of their best efforts I believe there are great times ahead at XJT. When the news of immediate class dates and low upgrade times spreads new hires will flock to the company and it will finally grow. Opportunities for rapid career progression will be abundant. And we will even get a new contract. These jokers will claim all the credit and say “look how well our plan worked!” But at the end of the day we are going to get a new contract due to outside forces including changes to the CPP and possibly being rolled into United ALPA. Thankfully that will finally put these guys out of their misery."

For one thing how would you know captains say these things if you're a new hire. Secondly, captains don't say this. You just rely on the fact that new hires have no idea about 95% of the great, good, bad, and downright ugly parts of this industry. Your job is to paint the MEC ugly and get as many folks through the door that you can.
You're not a pilot. You're Subodh Karnik.

Please Nobody is that dumb to think you're a new hire. Thing is you don't care. It's just your schtick.

But you KNOW, SOMEHOW that great times are ahead, no action required!
Yeah, lots of people thought that too, when they were new.

My checks don't bounce..they pay me on time..I'm upgrading soon..no one is calling from the majors or lcc to hire me. I'm glad to be flying for compensation that is far greater than any compensation that I've made working one job. All that other stuff may be important but right now xjt is paying the bills

And in 2007 hiring was through the roof, tons of our people were getting hired at Continental, and before that etc etc...then it all spiraled in 2008 and had been doing so since then.

There will always be those that wish failure on others because their lives didn’t work out the way they hoped.
