It wasn't 'a list' and 'a person' it was a person on many lists.
Without saying more, I will say it was so bad it attracted attention from a management level.
I hope they changed. But the sort of things they did was a core personality issue.

They covered the range.
So United discounts the opinions of their own employees as to whom they'd like to work with.
Sure I'm ticked about not getting selected but it's BECAUSE I can look in the mirror just fine and considering who else they didn't hire, personality and background etc. vs. some who DID get hired....
THAT'S what's ticking me off: tons of good people who aren't making the cut and some real questionable choices of who is.
It all seems like a random game.

Or maybe I just vent and tell the truth here. Many of my letters talked about my jovial personality, fun to fly with etc. Some also talked about flying ability. Some mentioned other positive traits. Very flattering. In some cases, a little too much.

The new format will require a dramatic monologue because they've determined that's what makes the best pilot: the ability to tell a story.
Not your smiling friendly personality, not your combat military background, not the tons of letters from chiefs and fellow pilots and United pilots and flight attendants, not your technical degree, not the emergencies you've handled and told stories about poorly, not your hundreds of sick hours you didn't use.
PRESENTATION.

I agree that he sounds a little disgruntled/bitter, but he's NOT WRONG on many counts.

Fair enough about the "no fly list".
What I mean by that is, some people are on no fly lists because they're too standard, by the book, and don't let lazy FOs get away with being non standard.
Plenty of "no fly" list guys because they're the ones who are unsafe, nonstandard, etc. I'm just saying it goes both ways.

Also, I saw it, as well as others. Many of the GOOD people were turned down in the initial had little, IF ANY problem finding employment elsewhere. Doesn't matter if it was "big 6" or the better LCC's.
And some of those elsewhere's had interview processes much more in depth and prep required than what we have. And it's not like the TBNT from the CPP was some revelation/wake up for these pilots and what they have to do better. The other shops were simply interviewing to fill pilot positions and knew these were the pilots that are hireable.
Meanwhile, our powers that be/pilot selection was playing games, at a time when we weren't even running classes and shut down OTS interviews for about 8 months.
Almost makes you wonder if they did it just to keep the HR folks busy and give line pilots interview practice for the summer/fall of 2016

I'll also say at XJT there aren't too many people I would put in either of those categories.
