United annouced the order summer 2019 for the E Jets. They didnt say who gets them. Looking at the business side of things United is putting them at ExpressJet. I bet some sort of annoucment will be made in the next 60-90 days.
I agree. A lot of people want to argue about this and that but United has a plan but its a moving target based on how certain things shake out in the next few months. I would say its just shy of guaranteed that ExpressJet will be all E175s by 2023ish.

One thing you can be sure of is in the next two years the “UnitedExpress” brand will look vastly different than today.

United hasn’t been shy about saying the 5 year plan is for XJT to become an all E175 fleet and CommutAir will be the ERJ 145 operator. The new E175 aircraft award will be announced in December. After that expect the announcement of the opening of a west coast base (ie. Denver). That falls right in line with GoJet closing their Denver base by summer 2020.
A quick look at a map will inform you that DEN is not anywhere near the "west coast".
