This is opposite what my xjt friends and guys on our jumpseat says. They say that they think the flying for Delta was a lucky find at the time and they don't think it will be extended past the current agreement. I thought it was weird how short that agreement was to begin with. But hey what do I know, this is just what I hear.
Delta just took three more jets from ExpressJet and put them in Salt Lake City although, they're being manned by LAX crews. The initial deal was for 10 jets. Now as of January '08, it's up to 21. Rumors of a Salt Lake City base are alive and well throughout the LAX base. ExpressJet is up to 20 slots a day in Salt Lake City. ExpressJet's VP also was recently quoted as saying Delta wanted to expand it's west coast relationship with Express. Any jet Express has had come available, Delta has picked it up within a week of it's availability.
During a recent meeting, Delta's CEO [Anderson] was quoted as saying ExpressJet was the "DCI carrier that all others would be measured by" and went on to say how impressed he is with the LAX operation.
The agreement could've been much longer tem but Jim Ream, ExpressJet's CEO, made it very clear during their conference calls that there were issues that the two companies couldn't agree on at the time and Continental clouded some of the ability to progress with Delta.

Just curious, what is your source? And can you post it here for me to see for myself? You may in fact be right but I have never heard such a thing before. Thank you.

I am going to take a shot in the dark here... You fly for SKYW?

ExpressJet can have a higher profit margin from the pro-rate agreements than it can from the Continental CPA.

This is what I have heard as well but it is still no excuse for SlapHappy to be a TOOL. He is not what most of us here at SKW are like. I have several friends flying for XJT and I hope the best for you guys. Even if it means a little less flying for us on the west coast. Good Luck. I would hate to see any of my buddies over there lose their west coast base.

Delta has been pleased with our flying.
As it is right now, we keep pulling planes off our branded side to give to Delta, which is annoying since it hasn't even been alive for a year.
Oh well. They've thought out and know things I don't.

The only problem I have heard is that Delta wants 76 seats on some of those routes that XJT flies and they refuse to get bigger planes. This may be the only downfall to XJT flying for Delta. Seriously though for the sake of many of my friends I hope there is enought o go around for all of us.

If we didn't do the Delta flying, the planes would be on Branded or somewhere else.
