Afterall, the reason we are in business is because we fly airplanes cheaper than mainline can. If we get those costs closer and closer to mainline, why would they outsource there work? We all want the mainline jobs to be there if we so choose down the road. What if as a regional pilot wanting to go to a major, I want the outsourcing to end? |

That made absolutely no sense at all.

Easy there Tiger! No need to be the Big Man. We can all voice our opinions here. Sound good there Champ?
Thanks for being such a Trooper, JustAnotherPLT! More classes after the next two?? As for more classes after the next two, looking at what we have for the summer, I sure hope so. Anyone on reserve is going to feel the firm fist of scheduling. That actually extends to line holders too! |

The regionals have their place and reason in the market flying the shorter routes and less capacity. Regionals are part of mainline airlines running a money making operation. If they have to fly DC9 or MD88 to the little airports there costs will go up so guess who's pay will eventually go down to remain profitable? Personally I'm against 100 seaters to the regionals because I believe mainline should fly those size aircraft. The scope is a completely different topic while I was speaking soley about pay rates on our < 76 seat aircraft. There is absolutely no reason to increase pay rates at a "huge" rate when a FO that's been at the company for a couple of years can gross over 60k if they feel like working more than average. Pay increases due to costs of living and inflation? Yes! But anything more than that, not nessecary. Increase pay a huge amount, and get the company to agree to it somehow, and plan on growth stoping or possibly shrinking. Follow that up with sitting in the right seat for 10 years building that ever-so-valuable SIC time putting most of your mainline opporunities on the horizon.
I am also very aware of the importance of QOL improvements. Dont feed me that raising wages will put the company out of business either. Skywest holdings made money on the XJT operation last quarter even when we produced probably our worst operation in the history of XJT. Skywest has is making money off of us which I want them to do but they also have $800 million dollars in the bank. CASH! They could buy everything Republic/Frontier/Midwest owns by just writing a check. That money was made off of the backs of the employees being paid far too little. $60k?? I've been here 4 years, I'm still on reserve, and I made $36K last year. I am away from my family enough and on min days off I dont have the opportunity to "work extra" even if I wanted too. If you and your COL increases want to be a part of the race to the bottom then so be it. The buck stops here. You are a professional airline pilot responsible for hundreds of lives everyday. Start respecting yourself. |

I believe you took me the wrong way. I'm all about people voicing an opinion. I've actually enjoyed "debating" (lack of better words) about where are new hires will be placed. In fact I may stand corrected from this last preliminary that came out (2/24) and with that wstcstcmtr will be correct. As for the "way to go buddy" comment, I merrily replied with the same knowledge you brought to the table... nothing. Not trying to be a Big Man nor do I need to be, just stating bring something to the table if you want to play.

Furloughs coming guys...wait for it...(lawlz).
PBS, Socialization of pairing values, attempting to make everyone fly a credit of 75 or less hours, using reserves to fly 80-90hrs credit a month (lower pay pilots...), oil skyrocketing because some Northern Africans' can't get their **** together, Mainline changing the mission of the -200...Oh, and I almost forgot...a seniority list integration... ;) (partial comedy...) |
Does anyone recall the pay rate for ASA new-hires? $1200/month if I remember correctly?
|
Yea, I think I remember that number. What was Expressjets monthly pay scale for training?
