Can't help you with the number of new hires or whether you'll get an IAH base I'm afraid, but they got back to me within 48 hours of me putting my app in without an internal rec.

Regarding the 401k, it just doesn't work for our situation. We are intending to move to the UK when we have kids and 401ks don't transfer. We have UK pension plans going already and my wife has a very good 401k with her company just in case. Our financial advisor has set us up with a pretty sweet deal specifically for our situation, so it wouldn't make too much sense to take the 401k option. Although it does sting a bit knowing that we're essentially turning down additional long term income from the company.
I still have to ask...you are going to be getting free money from the company even if you don't add a penny of your own. What does your financial advisor say about that? Seriously, you are going to end up with company money that belongs to you anyway, so get the most you can out of them. To me, the double taxation issue (in the future) is really only on your contribution and earnings, the rest is taxation on the free money given to you by the company.

Plus, if you leave XJT, which I assume you will want to do at some point, you can roll all that money over into an IRA. Are there issues with having an IRA and living in the UK? I think you really need to consider this as just extra money even if you are concerned about the tax ramifications.

Hmmm, interesting points. I'll take a second look at it. I'm not keen on passing up on free money, and to be honest much of what our financial adviser is telling me doesn't ring true in my mind.

Welcome aboard!!! You'll like it here while we still have our contact!!! Who knows how long that will last!!!

They are paying 200% right now to fly on days off. Im an FO an didn't have vacation this month but thx to our contact I flew 73 hours and made $8300
That does include $350 for per diem.

But I think you'll like it here!!!

$8300? What do you guys have in your contract that lets you make $8300 bucks? Even at 200% pay and the $350 per diem taken away that would still be over $50 an hour base. Sounds awesome but also confused in how you managed this...

I don't ***** myself out as well, I made $10,160.97 this month with 22 days off with 1 week of vacation, and not doing OE either. You just have to know the contract. Fly smarter, not harder

Are you in the right seat? Is XJT still hiring?

How'd you manage that?

I saw the 10k figure and I had to laugh. But then I thouhgt can an FO make 10k a month with 22 days off? So I did the math. He had 1 week of vac so he could have gotten 2 four day trips droped. And for argument's sake lets say each is worth 25 hours. And lets say he is a very senior FO so he had 1 more four day on his schedule. So he started out with 3 four days each worth 25 hours and he got 2 dropped thru vac. Then the remaining four day he got FBO. So now he is getting paid 75 hours and flying zero. So then he went on to pick up trips at red flag 200% pay and let's say he picked up 75 hours worth, so that's 150 hours, plus the 75 hours he originally had, that's a total of 225. Multiply that by the max FO salary of $43.76 and that's $9846 plus $350 per diem that's $10,196 as a senior (over 7 years) FO pay.

Now for those of you just starting out, 200% pay does not apply to you. And line holders can take away your agressive pickups and they have 9 hours before show to do so. As they hire more people There will be less trips in open time. Right now for June there are only 20 so trips for the entire month of June in IAH. I would calculate take home pay based on 75 hours plus per diem. At least you'll know that's the least you gonna get paid. The FO that made $2500 sounds high. How many hours did he fly?
