I'm currently at a complete bottom of the barrel regional, not even close to upgrade (if the company was to even survive that long) without many options, and finally in a position where I can make a change, so starting to look around. Want to be close to home so I can drive. Not willing to commute so NY area based "airlines" are the flavor of the day, and I believe EWR is the junior XJT base.

P.S - Jetblue or Atlas has been taking FOs from XJT? Without TPIC?
Saying XJT is one of the better regionals is like saying your the smartest kid with a disability. The entire regional airline industry is based on cheap labor with zero leverage to improve our qol. If a regional does improve qol they are immediately replaced with a cheaper alternative.

Ewr and ord are XJT's junior bases right now but it is subject to change. I wouldn't jump ship right now. There is a lot of uncertainty in the regionals and a lot is riding on contract negotiations at the majors. Jetblue only requires an atp. Atlas I don't know about but they hired three guys I knew from the right seat.

Pay in training is 2 checks of 750, no tax taken out. You have to buy your OWN uniform, and you should have 3 Jepp. binders when you come to class. After you pass your checkride, you get on the payroll at 75 hours per month.

Hope this helps.

I would be much happier to read that a major was hiring 600 pilots this year. For the past 10 years, this industry has grown waaaaaay too fat on the regional side. We need a change.

Also, a poster mentioned lots of FOs have left XJT for greener pastures... if anyone doesn't mind sharing, what are these "greener pastures", for those who know some of these FOs?
"Greener pastures" doesn't necessarily mean a better flying job. I have heard of a lot who have flat-out left the industry.

People have been "noticing the trend" for well over ten years now. Problem is we can't do anything about it.

Places that are bottom of the barrel in terms of pay and working conditions still have people lining up and always will.

You'll need a flight case too which you pay for. Living 2 months on $1500 is pretty damn hard.

What are folks coming aboard ExpressJet with nowadays? The website shows 700/100, while AirlineApps shows 500/50 ... anybody have an idea as to which is getting the recruiting fish to bite on?

Many thanks in advance.
