Most of the SkyWest agreement contains provisions that say "will not be less than ASA/XJT JCBA." They will most likely be on par with us whenever this or the next TA is ratified.
I think that is part of the reason for this concessionary TA: we are negotiating for not two pilot groups, but all 6000+ pilots under the SkyWest INC umbrella. The more concessions are extracted from us, the more they can cram down the SkyWest pilots' throats.

Well Joe, maybe we should just work for free for the next 6-8 years till you retire. Those are costs associated with running the business. You are not there to make those decisions so why are you worrying about it? When is the last time the company actually saw you as an asset? What are you really worth Joe? I am not asking to making what mainline makes because I understand how this regional model works. I will be damned if I give up what I already have for no net gain back.
Why would I want to work for free? There is a huge difference between this TA and "working for free"....but then you know that....

I'm not fully aware of how all of this stuff works. Does this mean if we vote it down it we are only delaying the inevitable? Can we not just operate under the 2007 contract forever? Or is this thing we call "freedom" just a myth?

If we vote it down the negotiators from both sides will just go back to the table and try again. They used a mediator to come up with the TA so it makes sense that they would need a mediator to make changes in the event that it doesn't pass.

Anyway, I'm just relaying information given to me at the XJT MEC meeting. This TA is more expensive than Skywest pilots pay and work rules.

No, we still get GDO's but only one block of them in most cases and you have to ask for that one set of GDO's, "subject to scheduling approval". That last phrase is another reason I'm voting no, they think we're too stupid to realize that phrase is basically the same as "at the company's discretion", something most of us have said was a non-starter.

In 25.D.2.g. Your first largest group of days off will be immovable. The rest are soft days. Also gone are the restrictions and protections we currently have. Current contract requires that days off are move only when they need to increase coverage in the bucket. It is done first to the call me first pilots then in inverse seniority order. This forces CS to run a draft list before moving days off. This is a pain in the butt for them so they tend not to do it as often as they otherwise might. They also have to give you an RDO with two choices and it must be contiguous to another off day unless no more days are available in the month in which case you get paid for it or get an additional GDO in the next month.
In the ta, only one group of days off is inviolate except when you do not have any groups of three or more in which case you can have two groups of two. We are losing two GDOs. The replacement day off will be chosen by the pilot from a list provided by CS. The day off will be replaced within 30 days. By the way, there is no language on how many days have to be on the list we will have to choose from.
So there go your GDOs. I could go on and on. The reserve section sucks. That alone is enough for me to vote no!
