I'm pretty sure the company wanted to stop the upgrades now... they are forced to upgrade 8 per the LOA, so as soon as the date hits...bye bye upgrades...AND hello canceled position notices...hence why they will push it back until post-november when they can cancel the awards. Moral of the story...update your applications and get out.
The problem with the summer months is the summer schedule. We need FO's online before pulling FO's offline to train as captains. It takes 2-3 months to train a FO. It takes 2-3 weeks to train a captain. The new hire classes have been much higher than they were before LOA 14 and 15. if we can continue to attract new hires, they will not cancel it. Hopefully, things will take its course by then and we won't need it anymore as the natural progression of upgrades will be back to normalcy.

That's laughable. Anyone in management at this company who has overall decision making authority, will just return to their position at SkyWest, or have one created for them. They have little vested interest in this place.

Actually, they don't want to. They want to bring the upgrade time down to attract more people here. If we shut down, they don't have jobs either.

So can I pick up open time or trips people are trying to drop over my rsv days when I fall under the line holder rules? If I see something a week out and decide to bypass the aggressive pickup for reserve laws... hmm.

You know me and my values. I do believe that OUR management wants this place to succeed. I believe that their hands are tied by Skywest management.

I know you are just doing your job and I apologize for crapping on you. However, at what point do you give up the act and stop trying to sugar coat the regional model that no longer yields a place to come work, stay and earn even a fraction of what a 200K asset should in this economy?
Tell them the truth. It's gonna SUCK. Upgrade takes forever. You're going to become a little bitter after five or six years. The trips are lame. Plan to defer your student loan payments for the entire time you work here.
That way, "if" upgrades ever come down and "if" XJT grows into a healthy competitive employer, it will come as an unexpected surprise.
I'm sure at least 51% of the people that read this post have been promised or told to expect something that never materialized. And that promiser had everything to gain by creating artificial expectations.

Seems like it not all rosy at SkyWest either. They are running really lean and need to hire 100/mo to keep up with attrition while staffing the new metal and it's simply not happening. If only they can send some new tails our way so we can get over this upgrade hump!
