There's going to be a demand for some ERJs past 2017 at ExpressJet. It will likely not be the current fleet size forever in demand, but some number. The only thing I can say to that is you need to have faith people will continue to come in behind you and let the ERJ flying be financially viable. This type of fleet plan sucks and doesn't give long term stability that we all want. But if we can fly them, they will extend them is the going mantra.

There's already existing language now about the rates for flying E-145s. It's more up to United to decide how many they want and XJT to say how many they can actually fly.
There is a 6 month clause about United making that call for the Dec 31, 2017 date you may have heard of. They'll probably make the call before then, but it's up to them on how many they want. With unclear staffing numbers at all their other regionals, I'm sure they'll wait til closer to that date.
The 20 E-145s slated to come offline in 2016 are on a consistent renewal. If they can't be flown, no penalties for performance. It's possible planes scheduled to come offline in 2017 could be added to this plan. So it may not seem firm and isn't much for concerns about the fleet plan, but it puts XJT in a better place financially.
They've been adamant that if they can be flown, they absolutely will be. The fleet plan requires consistent new hires to be successful. That's not untrue at other regionals, but it makes it looks better on the balance sheet for risk. Unfortunately, it makes it a much harder job to hire people.

Part 135 FO looking to begin my 121 career at express jet. I live in Orlando, FL so would be commuting out of MCO or DAB. I am interested in the CRJ side. How likely is it to get ATL as my base out of training? and how long would reserve be? I'd be starting in late august of this year. Upgrade time on the CRJ?

I'm senior FO waiting for upgrade, so I can get high block trips. 20 hour 3 days and 24+ hour 4 days. I usually only work 12-14 days/month. and now with 150% I'll go on the low end and pick up a day line or 2 day.
