Even if they are doing that I don't think it will hold. If you get assigned the aircraft and turn them down they'll call you back later offering you your choice. They're not going to suffer staffing both sides just as an attempt to even out hiring.

Really? This must have been decided this last week. The rest of April has been you choose from what I know. Even with the United cpp there was still a mix of guys choosing crj from what I saw.

I'm only relaying information shared to me by an ALPA Rep.
Otherwise, I agree.

Which rep did you hear that from? I just talked to one of the FO reps from ATL and he said they still have a choice. We have a meeting with the Director of Flight Ops tomorrow and I will ask him directly. I can't see them doing that in the hiring environment we are in.

DTW FO Rep. At the LEC meeting last week. Stated that the new hires find out their equipment and bases a few days after starting indoc and that they are placed. Perhaps he was mistaken as well then.

Equipment is chosen by the new hire when they are given the job offer; that's how they schedule which ground school to put them in.

Sounds right for every company. 2nd or 3rd day of indoc, you find out base and equipment (if indoc is with asa, you could get 200 or 700-900). There are separate indocs between XJT and Asa. I don't see how they are replaced after starting indoc.

Then the unbalanced staffing will continue in my opinion.
Tough reality I suppose. The summer will be quite interesting.
