Tough reality I suppose. The summer will be quite interesting.
From what I'm hearing, we have 25 currently in training for the last 2 CRJ classes. Applications are up, and people are still choosing to go to the CRJ side.

Also, the company is NOT deciding if you're going to the ERJ or CRJ.

For what it's worth, the "united pathway" on the ERJ side actually hurts new hires who wish to work at UAL because they would have to wait for seniority based interview, and as a new hire that's going to be 6-8 years, well beyond the life expectancy of the airline (12/31/2017). Meanwhile, it's unlikely UAL would want to double dip ERJ pilots by hiring around this program in addition to it. It really only benefits the senior ERJ pilots already on property. So if your goal is UAL you may get there faster on the CRJ side than the ERJ side if you're dead set on working for this company. and the rumors are true, PIC time isn't required.

Everyone on property will interview within a year and new hires will be eligible once the back fill is finished. You'll know if you have that job waiting for you. It's not a 7-8 year wait to just interview. You know that the 2017 isn't gonna be the real end date.

How long do you figure it will take them to get 3000 hours total time AT EXPRESSJET?

Here are the other requirements to participate:
  • Support, or are qualified to support, the United Express operation on or after Feb. 19, 2016
  • Obtain a Bachelor’s degree*
  • Complete 12 months of active service at ExpressJet and 3,000 hours total time at ExpressJet (or 2,000 hours PIC)
  • Maintain a suitable employment record**
  • Pass United’s Hogan Personality Inventory assessment and United’s panel interview
  • Complete an application to United via AirlineApps.com by June 3,2016
  • Opt in to the program (by June 3, 2016 for current ExpressJet pilots)

This is false. The way it works is you are assigned a class date based on what aircraft you want to fly. You know the aircraft before you ever show up for the first day of Indoc. This process has not changed, period. I asked this question to the Director of Flight ops and this is the answer that was given.

Probably 3-5 years. You don't need to have 3000 hrs at the company to do the United interview. You must have that before you'll move over via the CPP.

It will take well longer than 3 years to get 3000 hours. Even on the high side. You can maybe get 850 hours a year with 117. That doesn't include the time you spend on reserve. I would say realistically it'll take no less than 4 years from date of hire to probably 6.

FWIW, I've averaged less than 500/yr over the last almost 6 years.

I actually work at ASA. and I've known about 15 FOs get hired. not to mention probably 20 military FOs that come here for 100 SIC and get hired at Delta. We've lost a lot to Delta recently. Everyone I know with 1000 TPIC or more CAN'T get a call at United or Delta. But SWA is hiring them in droves!!!! 10 SWA hires in the last 30 days alone.
