FDX B reserve

[QUOTE=NoHaz;2480892]Anyone know if you can J/S morning into B reserve or do you need to come in night before?[/QUOTE
You could, but you’d have to arrive before your notification period starts and you don’t have Jumpseat protection on reserve. I always commuted in day prior for reserve.

I have jumpseated into an RA day (2320 scheduled arrival)
and jumpseated morning of RB.
1st fly on RA.
If my FedEx flight is delayed, I contact CRS and warn them
If it’s an Ops Emergency day, they really really couldn’t care less

Low on the leveling list, nothing in open time, FX jumpseat booked with a couple of back-up non-stop pax flights that get you there in time and no serious weather issues on either end? I'd come in that morning if whatever I was gaining by staying home was worth the gamble.

Bottom line is that time spent commuting is not considered part of your duty day and never has been, either by the Feds or FedEx. Commuter protection is a totally separate issue.

If you are a 777 pilot, they May look at duty day...if FC is aware of it. They might remove from a trip where JS show to block-in exceeds contractual limits
(I have been assigned an RA trip with an 0500 show and a 1345 block-in following my 2118 JS show...CRS doesn’t care. DO didn’t care. All they care is whether you’re rested to operate the trip...and FedEx taught me a long time ago that I get better rest in my own rack. Or at least that’s what the Fatigue PPT show claimed)
The Feds don’t care either. You are the one that determines whether you’re rested for the trip or not.
In fact, the contractual no harm jumpseat rule goes Away if the Feds ever consider JS time as duty time. (Company scheduled Jumpseating different ball of wax)

FWIW-when my inbound flight has been held on the ground and I’m scheduled to arrive in my call window...I call CRS, alert them, then tell them I’d be totally cool if they just wanted to drop the R day in question.
For some reason, they’ve never taken me up on that offer
