I have seen a few FPR's planned so you arrive at your divert field at emergency fuel.

That does not seem "safe" to me.

Sounds like the company must have really taken all that input from the most recent survey to heart.

I guess just put it on and leave it on from democrat parking to the plane. Required for deadheads soon, makes a nice pillow for lay flat business seats.

Amen no amount of "extra" info is going to change my fuel planning. I do not put on fuel to cost the company money, I put on fuel to have options and to have decision making time. This yellow vest thing is crazy, I can't wait for the delay code for missing vest.

Seems to me the Company tried reducing fuel reserves a few years ago. My recollection is that most captains just ignored what was printed on the release and called GOC to add more fuel. After a while I think GOC just started adding the fuel back on because they got tired of being called by the pilots on a continuing basis to add more fuel back on the jet.

If you need it, add it. Why add the stress to your life at the end of a long trip. It's easy to talk about "just divert" but really, who wants to do that. Just add the fuel and know you'll have the fuel and time to make good decisions.

Okay, now that's funny. But probably true.

I guess we'll just add whatever gas we think we need. I've never had GOC give me a hard time about adding gas, and I add it whenever I feel I need it. Over the long haul, I figure it has probably saved the company money from less diverts, and less last minute fueling when the freight is heavy or the weather goes down.

Does this mean they are going to work on getting FedEx Meteorology to actually give accurate forecasts, instead of the overly rosy picture they usually offer up to us?

And apparently taking off with required fuel is important so a little extra might be some good insurance anyways.
