Noticed last night that ALL employees on the MEM ramp were wearing yellow vests.

No there's plenty more.... VB, expense reports, fuel sense (nonsense), lie flat seat issue as well as way too many lost grievances, etc etc. There is plenty good but we are a LONG way away from great.

Secondly, once a Captain signs the release, they’re saying there is enough fuel to complete the flight safely. Therefore in your mind, if you don’t have enough fuel don’t sign the release. When questioned by a manager, kindly ask them to show you where on the release is the line for their signature. Until there’s a line for that, any fuel determination is between the dispatcher and the crew. Dot period.

FYI, from the perspective of someone who’s worn a brown uniform for 30 years, it sounds like

Don't be bullied by the fuel police!

In general ... I usually try to support each new manager's changes (and, I assume, MBO cash bonuses). Did BM buy himself a new Jag with the bonus he received off of OUR individual fuel savings??
What happens if the "dispatcher" and I just aren't going to agree on the required fuel load?
What happens if the Duty Officer and I don't agree on the required fuel load (aside from him documenting in the "secret" Duty Officer log)?
Ordinarily I would propose CASH BONUSES to the CREWS for fuel savings. That said, I've flown with Captains that might plan to burn down to EMERGENCY FUEL for the extra cash (and I really don't like being scared in an airplane!). We've all heard stories about Captains missing their daughter's wedding because he got called for a DRAFT trip (REALLY?).
I still say that multiple diverts will cost the corporation MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. I just don't understand tripping over pocket change with the potential for dramatic service failures and trip disruptions?
I say we stop getting wrapped around the axel. Take their fuel and divert when you become concerned.
I'll bet the problem solves itself ...

FYI, from the perspective of someone who’s worn a brown uniform for 30 years, it sounds like FredEx is taking a cue about labor relations from UPS. If one of you gets hurt on the ramp while not wearing the vest, your employer will surely claim the injury wasn’t their fault because the employee wasn’t following required company policy.
DING DING DING! We have a winner.
