I don't use a backpack, but I see many people who carry a classy looking black or dark blue one. Most people seem to strap it onto their roller bag, which looks fine. None of my business what other people carry. At least they're not carrying Power Ranger backpacks (which would be okay as long as it was White Ranger Tommy, because obviously he is the coolest ranger).

If you like your back pack, then use it. Everyone has their system. I have my opinion and it’s not going to change. A grown man or woman in a pilot uniform wearing a back pack looks silly.
I’m not sure the argument of strapping 20-30 lbs on your back to avoid back injury is going to pass the common sense test. I have yet to injure my back by connecting my computer bag to my main wheel bag via clip/strap and easily pulling both behind me. Once the wheel bag is checked for a DH, the computer bag (also wheel equipped) gets pulled by itself. I also don’t need to have a brain bag next to my seat during flight, so schlepping that into the cockpit and hurting myself stowing it is not a risk I encounter.

The only advantage I can see to a backpack is changing the center of gravity of my rollerboard. I carry a food cooler slid over the rollerboard handle and a laptop bag hanging off the J hook. I've noticed a significant improvement in how heavy my bag feels and how fatiguing it is to pull when I have a short trip and leave the cooler behind or when we non-rev and I strap the car seat to the back of the rollerboard. If I distributed the weight such that there wasn't as much sitting on top of the rollerboard I bet it would be a lot less effort to pull.

years ago "Lunch Money" wanted to ban back packs, and issue company flight cases. When legal caught wind of it, they nixed the idea immediately. The reason is, If you carry, a suitcase and flight case, one in each hand, down the stairs, you are not able to use the company provided safety equipment, ie. the railing. Legal felt that by forcing us to use a certain type of bag, it would weaken their position to deny injury claims when the railing wasn't used in a fall. A friend had a stair fall and associated injury once. The first question asked by the DO when reported was, "How many bags did you have in each hand?"
Personally the back pack is a safety issue for me. I miss the flight case, but I always use the safety device now. Also the XXXL vest provides a sort of drag chute function in a stair fall.

Please don't make this a Civ vs Mil thread. This is intended to be Old vs Young. It's also strictly for polling purposes.
Stuff I've heard so far:
'Recorded for Social Media': Millennial FO sits down and pulls out Go-Pro camera, mounts it. Captain: "Ahh put that away." Millennial FO: "But I record all my flights!" Captain: "Not this one" (calls DO and has her removed from the trip)
'Gesture Bullying': Heard two versions: Millennial FO became upset because Captain was pointing at him/her too much (reasons unknown) and Millennial FO became upset because captain put his hand near the flap lever without being ordered to (more than once even!). Could possibly have both happened and be 2 x separate instances.
'Checklist Abuse': Millennial FO was PF and behind the airplane on arrival. Captain assaults FO in shoulder area with checklist, "Hey, how about the approach check??" Millennial FO is physically injured and demands mediated de-breif because he/she was "attacked in the workplace". Captain had to promise to stop hitting people with laminated pieces of paper.
'GET YOUR OWN MEAL, ***HOLE': Millennial FO refused to bring up both meals (when asked) because of, well....I don't really know.
'Its EUROPEAN!': Millennial FO had uniform pants tailored to resemble 'skinny jeans' (google it) and had shirt sleeves shortened to Terry from Reno 911 specs (Google "Reno 911 Terry", then click images). Another new FO with a comparable employee # + normal pants/shirt proceeds to chew him out for looking retarded and embarrassing all new hires in the AOC. Multiple pilots witnessed the event. Result/Consequences unknown at this time.
'UNRECEPTIVE': Captain was super super old (like more than 50!!) and on the way out, didnt give a **** so why argue? Millennial FO had a lot, I mean an awful lot, of suggestions. Old Captain didn't really listen and stared out the side window. Millennial FO: "YOURE BEING REALLY UNRECEPTIVE." Consequence unknown, assuming Captain retired or is dead.
'The Triple': Can PERSONALLY vouch for the validity of this one; I'm the one who reported it. 4 man, I mean "person" 777 crew in CAN. 3 old men + one young 'girl' (presumed gender unknown) with a bad haircut and puffy parka. The 3 x old dudes stood near the front desk and talked while they checked out, while Zhe stood off to the side and alone, gender excluded. Unsure if a formal complaint was filed on Zer behalf, so I filed one out moral responsibility.
This is it, boys. I don't want to live in Clown World. It's just not funny anymore.

This is hilarious...
But the putting your hand on the flap handle thing is annoying.
