I read an article once that said people born before the millennial generation never crashed an airplane. I really have no credible link to that information. I think I read it in a meme, perhaps on Facebook or Instagram. Once, when I was flying a Blackhawk in Afghanistan, there were like bullets and junk flying around and I thought no one would believe my story so I took a selfie with a selfie stick. The three double amputees found out I was born in the late 80's and didn't trust my decision making skills so they crawled off rather than tempt fate with a millennial.

My message to EVERYONE is that to judge somebody's mistakes or flaws based off of their race, religion, gender, or generation is ****ing stupid. If your FO is not doing something right it is your responsibility to guide and mentor them in a positive manner. If you think the younger generation is a problem, you should realize that it's probably your fault for not raising them the way you want them raised.

I have seen 50 year old captains walking around in unauthorized pants in uniform or not doing the flows correctly or not letting the FO do their flows the way they should. It's not generational. If you're a jerk you are a jerk.

Based on this guy's posting history, I'm going to guess you won't get an answer from him. He seems to like to stick his nose in a lot of peoples' business to tell them how screwed up they are. He's not a FedEx guy, so this post fits his pattern.

Nevertheless, I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess the intent of the comment was to suggest there might be another option available to the captain, another step maybe before calling management and having the First Officer removed from the flight. For example, maybe he could tell the First Officer to put the toys away, and then use a good portion of the cruise to mentor the misguided soul.


If that's not what he was getting at, I have no idea. I'm guessing he's spent a good deal of time behind the wood shed himself.
